@cgutjahr

lets not be too hard on kas1e. although he must have learned his lesson hard way, not to deliver for free to the community rather found of fairy tales and paying in advance. he already expressed his discomfort before, so his current attitude is only logical. if i was him i would be burnt and fed up out as well..

Timberwolf will require OS4.2? Got a link?

@Rob

I can only assume its chinese whispers from a post on amigans

Future course:
As already hinted, the next thing we want to achieve is getting updated to the latest Firefox build (14.0, I think). It wasn't possible to do that during the bounty as that would have been a fast moving target. Now that the bounty is paid off, we'll tackle that.
Once OS4.2 is out, we'll add the OpenGL and WebGL support, making it fully hardware accelerated. I'll evaluate the amount of work it would be to implement a non-OpenGL layer manager, but it looks like a lot of work... we'll see...

as AOS4.1 doesnt have full OpenGL support, getting the parts of firefox(timberwolf) that need full OpenGL support to work on AOS4.1 seems a bit hard to me, but commenters here seem to know better...

I kinda figured that out. I just wanted to see if cgutjahr would offer some kind of explaination.

OpenGL support will speed things up rather than enable additional features although it may make Youtube usable. Since current builds don't require OpenGL it shouldn't be a problem to have future versions that run either on 4.1 or OpenGL enabled on 4.2.

@number6

The failure of the release of Aladdin 4D 6.0 belongs to the author of Pagestream. He was paid long ago to deliver the final version. The mystery of why it is still not done only he knows.

@DiscreetFX

Perhaps he would have been more motivated to finish it if he only gets money after finishing it (or at least parts of it after milestones...)

Looks like Pagestream went bye bye too.

http://www.pagestream.org/

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /home/kazmaier/public_html/index.php on line 1280

Good riddance, don't say you can do something and accept money for it if you can't.

@DiscreetFX

sorry to hear that... I had contact with Deron last year and had no bad impression

Is there any sort of timeline for showing results?

It's probably the same mystery as why he never delivered a working PageStream 5 for Amiga (be it 68K or PPC), although he happily accepted payments for it all the while. It is beyond me why he ever got involved with Aladdin when he apparently got no time for his own product.

@DiscreetFX

Sorry for the offtopic! (Moderators: this would worth a new topic)

I missed the press release about the cooperation of Discreetfx and Grasshopper LLC/Deron Katzmaier. Deron was always a nice person in the last decades. It is sad if you have to mention the case such like this.

If that man has difficulties, then the community somehow needs to find a way to help to get back on track of at least PageStream development.

Anyway the site error could be just a sign of an upgrade.

the only conclusion for future can be no money before a product is ready to be sold (expecially no prepayments). That can be difficult at hardware-projects but there is always a risk.

That's not true. Even serious software projects are needs funding somehow. PageStream IS our last serious software. Without serious softwares we can **ck up timberwolf. Only a browser and little commodities will not attract anybody.

There is so little we have, don't lose everything.

If others feed the developer, it will develop for others!

@Lazi

that is offtopic now so we should continue on another place. You are right that a OS (even if it would be the best) is nothing without software. I am not a OS4 user so I cannot give advices for this platform but I personally have doubts that there are enough good developers left who are willing to invest their time (at least without getting thousands of dollars). Either there is a company that is able to invest lots of resources (money) to supply the software or you have people investing their time to port software (without money just to help the community). And even thousands of dollars are not enough to create "real" incentives to professional programmers.

@Trixie

Wasn't Deron looking for help last year for the MUI part of Pagestream? I can remember a comment somewhere that he had found someone (I even suggested some common names with deep MUI experience). Sadly it didn't seem to help anything...

@

Any Sam440ep or Sam460ex users using this combo ?
It is indeed worth the effort while we wait the next few weeks of so for RC3.
A small SFFS2 partition is all you need. Mine is only 2 GB .

Try running from a FFS2 partition with all RC2 files except libcairo.so.
Use the RC1 libcairo.so.
This seems to be the best setup of RC2 for Sam440ep machines.
