Checking to see if there is any snow coming first
No, honestly it was an idea I had just then. I gather ACube is swamped with work, as am I for the next few weeks. But I have a SAM460ex, I have the UBoot source, the UBoot hacking experience, the PPC460EX datasheet and DDR register calculator spreadsheet and I even have access to an Abatron BDI3000, but not quite sure if I have the 460ex support in it. I've been using it on a P1025 (but not for a long time, as we put UBoot on a microSD on that board, which saved NO END of hassle). I also had a BDI2000 set up for MPC5121e, but I believe that was reconfigured for ARM since last I needed it.
But as I wrote, it depends on WHY we're adviced to use CL6. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). | It would be nice to know why CL6 is recommended, but I do believe 5-5-5-15 is more common than 6-6-6-xx. It would be interesting if any NG amiga can auto config with different memory speed.
My laptop can do this across a range of memory module that are JEDEC standard. You will not notice a lot of difference from CL6 to CL5.
CL6 to CL4 is big in performance here, but I do have other modifications thats helping its performance.
CL3 is in a class of its own, just need SPD edited to make it a plug in & play. _________________ The Machine: Bride Of The Pin•Bot by Williams Electronics |

Technically (as far as I can understand from the 460EX datasheet), it's just 400MT DDR2, so all DDR2 SODIMMS on the market can run CL3 in this machine (800MT CL6 == 400MT CL3 for random accesses, after all. The 800MT has an advantage on large bursts, though). Therefore reading the SPD makes little to no sense and the SAM460EX could just run CL3 at all times.
This is why I find the CL6 suggestion strange. Last edited by olegil on 07-Jan-2015 at 10:00 AM.

Ok
You could add the option to change the 5 main timing perameters (CL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-CMD) +voltage adjustment, but keep it private until more information is known.
If successful, under the memory timing a second menu could be added for advanced users only to change the sub timings. Last edited by delshay on 10-Jan-2015 at 03:21 AM.

Instability shouldn't result from slightly less underclocking of DDR2 alone _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). @olegil
You are right,it needs to be done from the motherboard. Here my laptop bios is the limiting factor, but its clear I can test CL3. ..2x2GB. Also the kingston KHX6400SULK2 so-dimm is really DDR-1066 @CL5,but is clearly not design for laptops at this speed but it does work at this speed. I have also added a second "custom private so-dimm" another world first, more information when completed.
Going back to the kingston memory module, its SPD has some unusual timing I have never seen in any other memory module including faster desktop memory module. If this memory module was fitted to a desktop computer with a adapter,it should outperform most if not all memory module @800Mhz due-to its SPD timing. (Not tested).
