| Hi All,
We have added support for various TV tuner cards and TV tuner USB sticks to our Linux kernels. That means, it is possible to watch television and listen to the radio with Linux on your X5000 and X1000. It is also possible to record television programs onto a hard disk. There are many TV tuners available for the PCI and PCIe bus. Additionally you can use TV tuner USB sticks with your X5000 and X1000. With a Composite Video input (yellow) you can connect a lot of other devices like video game consoles, video recorders, receivers etc. I created two threads about TV tuner devices in our Hyperion forum today. I would like to exchange with you some experiences about various TV tuner devices.

Please test your TV device and share your experiences.

Give it another 10 years and you might be able to watch TV on OS4. Some body please explain what the point of buying Amiga specific hardware to run Linux is???? _________________ A1200 ACA1232 128MB Indivison MkIICr Elbox empty Power Tower RPi3 Emulating C64 ZX Atari PS BBC Wii with Amiga emulation Vampire v4 SA |

Because actually it’s a nice to have feature on the machines which support it 😉
@xeno74 Thanks as always for your dedicated Linux updates I might check this out further when I have some more spare time 🙂 _________________ Amigaone X5000/20 4GB Radeon RX 550 Polaris 12 AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition Update 1 Amiga 1200 Workbench 3.1.4 Amiga CD32 |

So that they run the latest FireFox for PPC. Or if not use then use a normal web browser. As normal as you can get. |

Firefox isn't quite the draw on Linux as many would imagine...... believe it or not I get more use out of Odyssey day to day on OS4 for web applications as its quicker.

On PPC it's worse. On my XE/800 FireFox in Linux, especially without hardware acceleration, it is slow. And it isn't as stable as it once was. I've seen it simply exit. This could be those endian problems creeping in. Or it expects AltiVec which would be reasonable, in this day and age.
Running TenFourFox on a 1.5Ghz Mac, with hardware acceleration, well it still seems slow.
But even on x86, with my Linux Mint 64 setup, it gives me trouble. Huge resource hog. It will be fine one minute and then the next it will take the system down. It will keep accessing the HDD, whatever it is doing, endlessly. I freed up 4GB for swap and 5GB on my root. No change. Can't kill X server. Ctrl Alt Del ignored. The implicit "Safe shutdown" REISUB combo is locked out. Yes well programmed. Linux multitasking kernel killer. Last edited by Hypex on 04-Apr-2018 at 05:10 PM.
