Software News   Software News : New software releases by OnyxSoft

OnyxSoft is releasing six software updates!

Click Read more for further info.

Updated programs

AllKeys v1.3 - (OS4,MOS) Hotkey program supporting all multimedia-keys and mousebuttons. The MOS version has been updated! Added support for a second scroll-wheel, TRANSLATE can copy into any number of codes, instant update when saving prefs-file (no need to restart AllKeys), more free prefs file (now allows empty lines and pure ;comment lines), easy WB mode, and more!

Annotate v2.4 - (OS4) A very comprehensive text editor with a lot of functions. These are the major updates: Fixed the close-config-crash. Editable hotkeys, full tab-key support + a few new functions, auto-save functions, new text-selecting and copy functions, new functions regarding cursor movement plus many more fixes and enhancements.

Macc v1.1 - (OS4) Mouse accelerator with a couple of settings. Now added scroll-wheel acceleration and NewMouse support which makes KingCON, CubicIDE, AmIRC, etc. to work (again).

MPlayer-GUI v1.41 - (OS4) GUI for MPlayer. Now with arexx-support and a Control Panel to control MPlayer through the GUI and much better cooperation between MPlayer and the GUI (in mini-release v1.40), file-pattern filter for the filerequester (updated in v1.41).

TheMPegEncGUI v2.61 - (68k) Full-featured GUI for MP3-encoders. Added the --noreplaygain switch and a freetext-field. You who have used TheMPegEncGUI the last week may already have seen this update through the automatic update feature in v2.60

ActivateWindow v1.3 - (68k) A program to activate and rearrange windows and screens. Very useful together with AllKeys. I think I've fixed some sporadic crashes.

Thanks for the updates. In particular the MPlayer-GUI. It's nice to have a GUI to control playback in MPlayer beyond just launching it.

Excellent stuff

Annotate is looking really good now except for 1 little graphical glitch...

The 'cursor in scroller' leaves a line at the top of the scroller.

A 68k program useful with allkeys? where are the allkeys 68k version then?

@Severin

That's not a bug, that's a feature(tm)
This line shows the last place the cursor was placed using the mouse, i.e. if you scroll away from the cursor (you still see it in the scrollbar) but then when you click with the mouse the last position in the scrollbar will be replaced by a small line when the cursor is place in view. This makes it very easy to find your way back to where you last edited - just scroll to this little line

@Fransexy

Good question!!
The thing is that there is a 68k version of AllKeys, just not sure where I put it, and it's not updated, and cannot support MM-keys since OS3 has no MM-key support, therefore no point in updating or even release it.

ActivateWindow on the other hand is a hack that I'm not sure how to implement in C on OS4 and it has a wider range of usage, not just restricted to AllKeys. I used it together with ToolsDaemon a long time. It's way older than AllKeys.

/me accepts a slapping for not

ok, next possible bug or slapping...

I noticed annotate wasn't loading the saved config on startup. after a bit of checking I discoverd that in config:

clicking 'use' saves the config to env:
clicking 'save' saves the config to envarc:

When Annotate is run it loads the config from env: which can be an old version if you haven't clicked 'use' and just saved.

Clicking 'save' should write the file to both envarc: and env: or another option would be to delete the env: file when Annotate exits, which saves ram and makes sure the current config gets loaded when it's run again.

@Severin

A miss on my part. I should save to both env and envarc on Save, or Save shouldn't close the config. that's an alternative to indicate that one must click Use also.

But I will make sure it saves to both places in the future.

Problem is that I have a fixed saved setting that I always use. The changes I make to the config while testing are only "Use"d and that always work (until I reboot when I get my saved default back). It's not easy without beta-testers

Edit: Fixed now :) (not released though..)

Excellent! the missing --noreplaygain switch was the only thing preventing me from using TheMPegEncGUI, and that control panel for MPlayer was REALLY needed for a media player. Well done man!

Great stuff! The more OS4 native tools the better.

@Deniil715:

Thanks for continuing to update such useful utilities.

One problem: MPlayer-GUI locks up the workbench after exiting. Does it need the latest version of some GUI library?
- Version 1.31 worked fine
- I have an A1 Xe G4 with OS4 update 4 (clean installation)

Regards.

I hope you don't write "manually" to env/envarc as you must use Dos/SetVar() instead.

Just checking

Thanks everyone, but there is a problem with MPlayer-GUI it seems. It does crash on exit as has been pointed out.

The wierd thing is that it doesn't crash if I compile without optimization! Normally I use -O2 for the release version but I also tried -O3 with the same result. It crashes when disposing the Control Panel when exiting. I have no clue what causes this, especially since it doesn't happen without optimization (this is used when testing), but I will investigate it.

@elwood

I have never used SetVar() in any of my programs
This command seems more useful for, just, variables, not complete preference files.

I write the file using a pair of sprintf()/FPuts() for every line. Hard to mess this into a SetVar call.

AmiDock which is the most "OS4"-program of them all doesn't use SetVar() either for its XML-file, neither does SYS:Prefs/Time and probably noone else either. And I understand why :)

OS4 SDK bug? Have you tried to ask to devs or betatesters?

Not an SDK bug, cut'n'paste-error by me.. . Wierd that it worked for so long! I have been using this version for months.

I have uploaded a fix to OnyxSoft.se(but not updated its pages) and OS4Depot.
