English Skrolli crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo |
| Announcement posted by Jupp3 on 13-Jan-2016 23:57:51 (2233 reads) |
3 years ago, we got a new finnish hobbyist computer magazine Skrolli. Now it's time to try going international.
There's currently a crowdfunding campaign going at indiegogo, and the project is already 88% funded. For starters, the aim is to produce first English issue (while the Finnish magazine continues to be released quarterly). If there's enough demand, there will be more obviously. The magazine will be available in both digital and analog (paper).
Keep in mind that this isn't "Amiga magazine", although of course it will featured now and then. There are already 12 issues worth of articles that could be translated, and funders definitely can affect which articles will make it into the first English issue.

It's planar, baby! Airsoft Softwair - the hardest working men in code business - are back on your screen with the Plananarama plugin for Hollywood. With the Plananarama plugin Hollywood is finally able to run on planar screens again! This finally makes it possible to run Hollywood scripts on plain AGA or ECS systems with no graphics board installed - for the first time since Hollywood 1.93 (released in March 2005)! Starting with version 2.0, Hollywood required CyberGraphX or Picasso96 to run. Since then, many people have asked for a revival of Hollywood's planar engine, so here it is, a real blast from the past! Thanks to Hollywood 6's greatly extended plugin API this feature could be implemented completely in plugin space. Once Plananarama is installed, all Hollywood scripts will magically run on palette screens again! All resolutions are supported - from 8-bit LowRes to 1-bit productivity SuperHighRes Interlace.
Plananarama is the third plugin to bear the Powered by Hollywood 6.0 seal of quality as it utilizes the new display and bitmap adapter plugin interfaces introduced with Hollywood 6.0. The plugin will not work with older versions of Hollywood. Only Hollywood 6.0 makes it possible. That's why we here at Airsoft Softwair say: Life starts at 6.0. Plananarama is available free of charge and can be downloaded from the official Hollywood portal. It is only available in a version for AmigaOS 3 because all other systems don't use planar graphics any more.
You need an 68020 or better. It is also recommended to install FBlit because otherwise you are likely to run out of chip memory really quickly. When configuring FBlit make sure you add Hollywood to its "Include" list in the "FAllocBitMap" tab so that Hollywood will be able to store its graphics in fast memory. Speaking of fast mem, 16 megabyte of fast memory are highly recommended.
This release is dedicated to all people who think life is better in 8 bitplanes. Who needs chunky? This is planar, baby! Proudly brought to you by Airsoft Softwair - the hardest working men in code business.

Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, Jan. 17 |
| News posted by RobertB on 11-Jan-2016 7:27:41 (1600 reads) |
Happy New Year, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2+ p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17 at --
Greg's house! (for more details, send me an e-mail)
Yes, it's field trip time! For the first time ever, we will have a FCUG meeting far away from Fresno. For some of us, it will be a two-to-three hour drive. For our other members near Greg's place, it will be a relatively easy drive.
The attraction? Greg's home arcade and his computer room! The arcade is full of classic and newer electronic arcade machines. His computer room, still a work in progress, houses his Commodore 128 and Amiga 500 set-up's. He's a big-time gaming fan, and so, we'll concentrate on gaming. Just in case, I'll still bring a VIC-20, a Plus/4, and back-up Amigas. ;)
We'll meet at Greg's house, and if need be, we can go to the nearby Pizza Factory and eat there, or we can order and take the food to the house, so we can have more time for gaming.
Truly, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group http://www.dickestel.com/fcug.htm

| R3D Project team has announced it's new arcade shooter for classic Amigas - Tanks Furry. The previev betaversion could be seen during Retrokomp 2015 event in Gdansk (Poland) while a video teaser of current version (prepared by Pixel Nation) can be found here. The game offers over 40 missions in various sceneries and several game modes for up to 4 players simultaneously. The requirements are: Any Amiga with 020+ CPU and a 1 MB of CHIP RAM. The game will be available in February 2016 and is going to be free to download, although a boxed copy containing a CD, manual and extras (like stickers for floppy disk) will be available too.

Odyssey Web Browser Public Source Code Repository |
| Software News posted by deadwood on 6-Jan-2016 18:44:55 (10398 reads) |
I would like to invite interested developers from all platforms to join the Odyssey Web Browser development.
The repository is public, available to everyone and located on GitHub:
https://github.com/deadwood-pl/OdysseyWebBrowser
The repository contains the latest version of Odyssey (1.25) which:
- is a continuation of Fab's 1.24 code base - is rebased directly on WebKit engine (no longer uses Orygin proxy layer that 1.24 used) for easier integration of new engine versions - uses WebKit revision 187682 (end of July version) - is rebuild to support multi-platform development in build configuration and source code
If you are interested in developing a feature in Odyssey, no matter how small, or fixing a bug, no matter how trivial, contact me via email at deadwood@wp.pl. Don't worry - everybody had to start somewhere! I will help you understand the code base, build process and development approach.
Please spread the news
