Due to the recent legal turmoil between Amiga Inc. and Hyperion, the Amiga reference is going to be removed from the AROS' name.
Its new name is now "AROS Research OS", making it part of the long list of projects that, like GNU, have recursive acronyms as names.
The news was taken from Amiganews.de and originated from the AROS mailing list.

Leuven, Belgium - May 1, 2007.
Whilst it is not Hyperion Entertainment’s policy to comment on ongoing litigation, we would like to reassure our customers (whom we wish to thank for their very numerous notes of support following the news) that development of AmigaOS 4.0 related components is still ongoing and will continue apace during the duration of the litigation with Amiga Inc.

On-Line Petition - Will you help? |
| Internet News posted by Mikey_C on 30-Apr-2007 20:13:19 (7506 reads) |
Fans of the Amiga platform
I have created an online petition in the hope that it may make Amiga Inc and Hyperion Entertainment see sense and work together rather than fight each other.
The Petition reads: "We, the undersigned ask that Amiga inc and Hyperion Entertainment to put aside their differences and work together to ensure the success of the Amiga platform for the benefit of all fans of the Amiga operating system"
----------- url is http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/amiga/index.html
Please help, the larger the voice, the more chance we have of making them see sense. Tell your friends etc.
