I think the web site looks GREAT!

By the way, I would love a dock in OS 4 for X1000 that looks like the "While you are waiting" dock on the web site. Have a sweet little boing ball at the bottom right side of the desktop (just like the web site does) and click on it and zap, out comes a dock at bottom with all our apps. Then click again and it is out of the way. That way we have full desktop, nice and clean, with a slick Amiga boing ball at bottom right to remind us what platform we are on.

Nice job!

Anyone else like a dock like that on Amiga OS 4?

One ugly site for sure. But I suppose the intention was to generate an '80s feel to it and that it succeeds in doing, if the web were around in 1985 that's what it would look like....

There seems to be something funny with the CSS, the text doesn't stay in the boxes when I use my iPhone. Not to say that's bad, the boxes are way too small anyway.

Do you ever do anything but complain?? By the way.. the site worked perfectly on OS4.1 using OWB

@AmigaBlitter

"why so much secrecy."

I think we will know eventually.
example: "Apple sent a letter to the DoD saying it will assure production of the 1.8 GHz PWRficient processor for three to five years, said one source who saw the letter but asked not to be named. The letter suggests Apple will explore selling the designs to a third party after that time. "

The only one remaining thing I hope they show us soon is the case. Would be nice to see what the new Amiga will look like.

Yeah, nice looking site. Not sure how anyone could dislike it, but there are all sorts of strange people visiting AmigaWorld (*).

1.8GHz? 2GB of RAM? Sounds pretty nice!

I certainly wouldn't mind

But, is that actually the case. I thought that was just the mock up one used on the Amiga Future magazine and not for sure the real beast?

Just ask any designer that is worth his salt. Non-obvious and gimmicky navigation. Window management as part of website experience. Usage of [map]! Abuse of outline on fonts. No RSS feed. Another gimmick: navigation in news. You can see at least 3 fonts in one shot.

Overall this is poor design. It goes for "wow" factor and fails to deliver. It looks like demonstration of jQuery.

I give them that: it has a fallback to less overloaded version.

If you want detailed information I can ask my UI expert to break it down for you. That would be invoiced as service.

That webpage is beautiful.

I would go so far as to call it innovative, using a window handler.

Nice thing.
Hopefully the residents here will have a good year.

This is nothing new. It was done gazillion of times. It is also a very bad idea: you have fake WIMP interface in WIMP interface, all your accessibility goes to hell, you need to manage windows instead of reading content.

I wish we had customers that are so easy to amuse.

@Framiga

Oh dear, sorry for my opinion. Guess what, I'm dealing daily with UI and designs. This is our bread and butter. But feel free to consult with someone who came out from "outline, glow, jQuery, move stuff around, MUHAHA" phase. I would be surprised if you'd get different opinion.

Just tried to subscribe to get the updates however the only email I received was from Hyperion from a majordomo (at) hyperion-entertainment (dot) biz titled Majordomo results: subscribe.

Now for the record I have not been anywhere near Hyperion's website for a while and not on this Wintel box. Hmmm curious and curiouser...

Anyone got any ideas? Especially as I can't get into the site. I'm dying to look at this beast as it's the first real Amiga that has tempted me to part with my hard earned cash.

Well, if the world would turn to your thoughts, roundabout 98% of all websites are crap. Including the ones from designers that are "worth their salt".

I like the site and the handling is very obvious. But maybe the word "Click" is too hard to get for you as a console guy.

I dont think that a console guy should judge about any GUI design at all...

I'm not your friend. Yes, this is my opinion, based on 12 years of experience with webdesign.
