Tested USB1.1 speed on my A1 and I averaged 900KB a second.
Edit: Linux gave me an average of 10MB/s from my USb2 card using the 2.6.31 kernel.Last edited by Hypex on 30-Aug-2011 at 10:14 AM.

That requires a hardware fix, it's not that resistors are not 'activated' it's that they are not present |
There is now two sides to this story and this just confuses the issue. According to tonyw there is nothing wrong with the hardware in this respect and that the resistors are present and need to be turned on by software.
So now, I wonder: Which is it? |

Having the pull-ups inside the VIA itself makes a lot of sense. Why should they be external in the first place? And they not being turned on also makes a lot of sense (well, according to the way it acts).
I put external resistors on my A1 and wondered how you could miss something like this._________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

| I know it's early days, but has anyone tried Heretic II under Update 3?

| Have just done my update on my Sam440ep:
My mouse (A-Eon): Non responsive My keyboard (A-Eon): Non responsive My workbench wallpaper has gone My AmiDock has gone
Without keyboard and mouse I am unable to check any further
Should I boot with mu Update 2 disk and then amend Installed Update 3 settings? Last edited by 1Mouse on 30-Aug-2011 at 11:28 AM. Last edited by 1Mouse on 30-Aug-2011 at 11:24 AM.

Okay I just installed it.
First impressions:
It can't mouint PC0: and I get an error on bootup. Looks like they forgot to update files in both Devs and Storage.
I also got an error about Mixer being the wrong version. Musy have to remove it from my startup.
YAM and IBrowse: These work but what are they doing on my Workbench! I have them on seperate screens.
USB2: Not looking good so far. My Kingston "STORE N GO" was detected but no icon mounts. I tried a second Kingston but it just keeps reading it endlessly and gave me some error about mounting.
Annoying USB printer messages: Damn it! DiskMonTools give me an alert and I keep getting this message about my USB printer not being there!! This is a very old annoyance, how could this be missed!!!
Calculator: Unfortuately this old bug is still not fixed. I still can't use extended mode, Calculator just locks up. Whether the bug is in Calculator or the sticky menus in Intuition (which I have activated) remains to be seen. |

Tried my Kingston Traveller; it mounted in split second.

| I've found that my keyboard becomes unresponsive after the splash screen has gone.
I check by pressing caps lock on and off while booting and the light on the keyboard kept coming on and off until the splash screen had gone then nothing.

That is only a theory, first mentioned back in 2003 when the A1s first appeared. Only the designers of the VIA 686B know for sure, but it stands to reason since "other Southbridges do it that way". It might have been Alan Redhouse who said it, it might have been one of the early devs, can't remember.

I found it. They disabled floppy in the Kicklayout. But they leave everythng else activated. Especially things I don't have. I wonder why? |

The Filer problem occurs for me also. Have tried with an updated install and also with a clean reinstallation.
A USB hub that worked under for 4.1, 4.1u1 and 4.1u2 no longer works. The hub is pretty old and refused to work with a lot of windows and Mac systems, so I am not too worried by that.
I do get an AmigaDos error on bootup, but haven't had time to track down the cause. From memory, some sort of null base error. Doesn't occur with a clean install.
No other problems so far. Have tried Ibrowse, SabreMSN and Yam and amongst others and haven't had any issues.

Have you got them plugged into the back ports where the manual says? Have you got a hub to test them in also? This is not good. The Sam is meant to be rock solid and now we find the Silicon chipset has a bug! Would explain why Linux complains about USB when booting the Sam perhaps.
Unfortunately it looks like my VIA USB2 card is incompatible with EHCI. Even though the VIA USB1.1 hardware from the same series on my motherboard has been working perfectly fine for years! Last edited by Hypex on 30-Aug-2011 at 12:14 PM.

The keyboard and mouse were plugged in at the back but have also tried the front and get the same issue.
I have a USB hub and will try that now. _________________ 1 AmigaOne G4XE (OS4 Pre-Release Update4) Minimig Sam440ep + OS4.1FE Sam460cr + OS4.1FE |

| All working well for me (until now), thanks.
Though the only real improvement I actually feel is the improved USB transfer speed without corupting data.
My config: sam460ex, Radeon RV730, Sony MicroVault 2GB USB sticks, Logitech G11 keyboard, Cyborg RAT 9 mouse, keyboard and mouse connected via Belkin switch, BenQ BL2400 screen with speakers.
Sound is working right after cold boot btw.
Still: without 3D acceleration (and fully accelerated 2D compositing) this machine is still quite useless for me. But I'm patient, just like most of us _________________ AmigaOS 4.1 FE (sam460ex Radeon 9200 / RadeonHD), MorphOS 3.8 (PowerMac G4 733MHz Radeon 9000), AROS (x86), A1200 (060 80MHz Indivision MK2), A500, A600, CDTV Wings Remastered Development Diary |

| Have just tried a USB hub which I know works as I have used it in the past.
I tested booting and pressing the caps lock key so I know it stops working just after the splash screen has gone.
I've also noticed that once splash screen goes my pointer is sometime a clock and sometime the actual pointer.
Could there be a way in UBoot to get the mouse and keyboard working?
What actually happens to the system the minute the splash screen goes?
