I've got fairly up to date Modula-2 DEF files for OS4 for nearly all of the .libraries. I don't know
if they would be of any help with Free Pascal, but I imagine they might be.

Anyone interested let me know and I can send them to you.

They are also part of the Aglet M2 compiler package on OS4Depot, though those
are not quite as up to date.

And not a single word from the muidev.de people about tokai's copyright?

What a shame...

@tcheko

Without wanting to make excuses for them ( I did think the same) it occurs to me that there is nothing MUI or YAM related in the thread title, so they may not have read it.

I guess this are the same people that "took over" every available MUI class and then replaced all the original files on the Aminet with their newer versions (if they work or not)?

That's rather disrespectful to the original authors too and the history of the respective components or programs in question. Different versions of a program or component by a different author (or team of authors) should not be able to overwrite the original versions (something that is seriously wrong with Aminet's archive update policy, IMHO)

For example try to find the original BetterString.mcc by Allan Odgard on Aminet. Gone!

Sometimes I'm really happy I still have my complete Aminet CD collection for this very reason... :)

If I update somebody else's software or do a newer port of something I tend to upload under a different name in case I've screwed something up, or whatever. However I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with just replacing the original, provided the previous author is credited, and if there was source code in the archive it remains there in the new version. If a bug has been introduced in the new version then it should be reported to the person who is now maintaining it, rather than reverting back to the old one.

At least closed source software avoids 'Improved' code made by monkeys...

Still, the main topic is tokai's copyright being removed from his work in the last unofficial MUI SDK released by the muidev.de team.

@tokai

I can see how that can happen if software X, is buggy and needs to be fixed, and then some one has make new version, but don't have the source code.

I think most developers agree (Red,Blue,Black), that if the orignal code was used they should give credits to the ones who made it, first.

On a side note I have ti agree, that MUI classes are mess, I have tried to get AmiPodder to work, but can't I know I have installed all classes, but its most likely because some messed up version.

RxMUI is not exactly bug free, it seams to give DSI errors when some thing is missing.

@wawa

It is a good and important topic, both on this case spesifically and in general

That said; the thread was very badly named. Not everyone reads every new thread automatically.
Some might just scan the headlines and see whats of intrest. If it smells of the "standard AW/aorg drama thread" they might just ignore it.

The topic is important, so it deserves a better headline

I can imagine many would like to see a responce from the one who has changed the autodocs w/o any notice to tokai...

certainly. which is why i still suggest someone actually contact them directly rather than just assuming they see this thread.

@Develin

by the way, i do see in mcc_aboutbox.doc the following still there:

Quote:
EXAMPLE
myapp = ApplicationObject,
MUIA_Application_Title, "AboutboxDemo",
MUIA_Application_Version, "$VER: AboutboxDemo 1.0 (07.04.07)",
MUIA_Application_Copyright, "251 2007 Christian Rosentreter",
MUIA_Application_Author, "Christian Rosentreter",
MUIA_Application_Description, "Demonstrates Aboutbox.mcc.",
...

AFAIK, Albert Enstein has never been involved in tokai's work.

The copyright notice has been altered to whatever purpose and included without any prior notice in this newly released unofficial MUI SDK. See post #1.

I guess all that proves is that this couldn't have been done by accident with some automated script...

Errm the obviousl improvement would be the addition of the actual subject MUI 4 Autodoc copyright infringement (or some subset of that include at least the word MUI 4) would more directly attract the attention of those with MUI / YAM interest. Particular as they like to make fuss about people asking for help on forums.
