| So based on that post - I've put my money where my mouth is. $100 a month (of course, I'm in the UK - so its costing $120 - 20% tax - .... leaving Michal with $90).
Will speak with the accountant - see if I can put it through my hackathon company... the vat can be claimed back then.
I can see a mobile phone OS being born of this :) |

Yes, I essentially did what you described. It resulted in that it could not configure the display, which is hardly surprising as I am not running a window system on that setup yet.
I will head over to aros-exec.org now. |

aros hosted uses either x11 or sdl, depending on configuration, my guess is that the nightlies are all using sdl.
now bear in mind that what i linked you to is aros abi v0, which even if not declared obsolete is not the current main branch, which is worked on. but given the context of this thread i expect arm abi v1 nightlies to be available at some point. |

AROS on RPi is an interesting development. A glimmer of hope, even. It seems significant enough that it ought to have its own thread, rather than going OT on this one.

How much do you think Ben Hermans and his band of merry lawyers would sell the company for? A-EON buy it and no problem IMHO. AROS can join BeOS as another good idea that failed to take off. _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Sadly, I don't think they will sell... But yes, if A-EON can unify everything, and become the new Amiga inc... and get OS4 ported to standardized, cheap as chips commodity hardware (such as the pi - or ARM variants, it doesn't matter as long as it can be put in a box and sold on mass - and you just plug it in and go) with the old software skinned up to look modern.. grow the userbase, and everything else follows through.
The kicker is making it disposable income - making it cheap enough for a nostalgic christmas present... the trojan horse.
Amiga can't break into the high end creative markets - the divide is massive... but it can go where the Pi goes, as a better, friendly system |

I think A-EON would be more interested in getting OS4, rather than taking over a defunct company with incompetent management, whose business model is based on legal shenanigans._________________ The Rear Window blog

| Who in their right mind would still like to do business with Hyperion or use OS4? I can see that Trevor is of similar opinion since he's investing in Friend UP, which could be made a real, modern Amiga NG OS that OS4 will never be. I'm guessing we'll see Friend UP on A-eon HW sooner or later. _________________

Another "solution" may be ... "cooking" A little premature to speculate on where this is going, but an interesting read nonetheless.

I doubt friend up will have any significant impact anywhere. I really don't see any scenario where users start their computer, with windows or what ever to then start a browser and then start using an other system. _________________

The underlying OS can be made hidden.
BTW, AFAIK, Friend UP can be made to run native, without the need for a host OS _________________
