Wayfarer, the most feature rich Web Browser that the Amiga has ever seen that so far has seen 22 free releases on the MorphOS platform, is apparently closing in on its 2.0 release and it seems to be rebasing to WebKitGTK 2.32.1.

Quote:

Made a lot of progress rebasing to WebKitGTK 2.32.1 (latest stable, from May 10th). It looks like between Daniel Kolesa of Void Linux and me we were able to fix the JavaScript BE regressions that have made into the source tree in the meanwhile.

@NewSense: I've made a note of your printing issues. Will sort these out for Wayfarer 2.0 release.

Wayfarer really came a long way rather quick. It's So impressive what jaca is doing here. And so much needed and appreciated.

@TRIPOS

Now it’s here!

• Rebased to latest stable WebKitGTK (2.32.1) ()
• Implemented Dark Mode (watch it in action here: https://youtu.be/k9DQ1H4LgJs)
• Fixed a crash in HLS video playback
• Worked around an issue preventing sites from loading, etc after quit confirmation requester got cancelled
• Fixed webkit message log functionality that crashed if the resulting message contained formatting sequences
• Changed rendering of elements like checkmarks that were missing on some websites
• Out-of-RAM crashes no longer bring up the Send Bugreport messagebox

jacadcaps: ”Please note that you MUST move the included ICU files (in MOSSYS/Data/ICU to the respective MOSSYS path).”

While the 'Rebased to latest stable WebKitGTK (2.32.1)' entry may seem insignificant, it was actually quite a bit of work to get this to run smoothly. There were several endianness regressions (bugs) in JavaScriptCore that I've tracked down and fixed together with Daniel Kolesa (Void Linux). Many, many interfaces in WebCore have changed and those changes had to be reflected in my code (even if they were simple type/enum changes 70% of the time). Still, a working rebase proves that there's future for Wayfarer and 1.x wasn't just a one-off.

An entry in the changelog definitely worth highlighting in bold text! Well done!

I’m so happy about this! A solid ground to stand on, and to build further upon!

@jacadcaps

Well done, cool to read about improvements to webkit, I hope this changes are pushed to master, so they wont need to be applied for every release, of new webkit.

Seems to have become faster again. This is really the most appreciated development for MorphOS. it makes the OS usable as daily driver!

@TRIPOS
You must copy the ICU files from Wayfarer/MOSSYS/Data(ICU to SYS:DATA/ICU

but it still asks for C:HunspellService

why isn't there a ####ing installer or readme!
I can't get Wayfarer 2.0 to run!

I'm so pissed with all this Amiga Stuff!

How does Amiga wants to attract Users even if simple things don't work out of the box?

The Kids of today want simple to use Computers!

Amiga is for old farts nowadays Kids don't give a fucl about the Amiga Mess!

AMIGA IS SNAFU!

@QBit

What's the actual error you are getting? Hunspell has nothing to do with this for sure.

@QBit

You need to copy the icu drawer to sys:morphos/data/

NOT sys:data/

sys: is user space, sys:morphos (aka mossys:) is OS private. And the wayfarer ICU files belong to OS private stuff.

Wayfarer 2.1 is released:

Quote:
jacadcaps wrote:
Wayfarer 2.1 is now out.

- ICU files will now be loaded from PROGDIR if missing in MOSSYS
- Updated EasyList adblocker data
- Fixed wheel scrolling in subframes
- Fixed a race condition in HLS player
- Fixed a widely reported crash in H264 decoding
- Fixed a potential crash in bookmarks code

Just a reminder: update Wayfarer by copying all of the files included in the LHA onto your current installation, overwriting existing files.

Wayfarer 2.2 is now out.

- Fixed duration handling in the Media Source player
- Disabled focus frame on some elements since it wasn't always redrawn correctly
- Fixed a low-memory related crash in the PNG decoder
- Tweaked ICU data checks to try and detect broken installations
- Added a workaround for Wayfarer not shutting down (may still be up to 30s)
- Fixed setting media playback variables after prefs were reset
