But won't it run ports of really old games?

Seems a bit chicken and egg.

And how is it real AmigaOS? Because it runs on 68K? They can't really run an updatd AmigaOS on it as they don't have the sources. Unless OS3.1.4 has a Vampire edition the Vampire is limited to running an unlicensed AmigaOS hackjob.

That's not much encouragement for the future to me. I'd expect better OS support. And a CPU core that can surpass the 2Ghz barrier to supplant the AmigaOne series.

@monstercoder

Well, I'm not wasting any more money on neither Vampire cards nor OS3.whatever as long as it sails under Hyperion. Neither of them are worth the hassle nor the money when I have perfectly fine 68k options that are cheaper, faster, and more reliable.

@Hypex

and I would expect something called NG to pass the 4 GB barrier

Any idea?

If something is targetting the retro market it is no problem but if you want to play with the adults as a serious competition you have to, don´t you think?

@thread

So Gamescon and the Amiga show in Germany I believe it was (Sorry I don't remember the exact name) Amiwest in the US are all over... Several of the Amiga magazines have been published including the one that Trevor said to look for information and yet here we are again with zero information on Tabor.

Did I miss something or have we been repeatedly lied to once again?
Does anyone have any information on Tabor?

@Trevor?

Anyone?

You are right. On the Amiwest blog it pretty much said that A1222 was going to get a release date. It did not

We are such suckers!!! I can't believe we keep patience with this circus!

... back to Deluxe Paint V and Slam Tilt. Wake me up when it's over!

P.S. Why does Steve Solie laugh ALL the time? Is it just nervous laughter or is he just really happy to be able to speak at Amiga meeting?

@Thread

... don't get me wrong I love watching Steven Solie and I'm glad Trevor threw him the work on the kernel after Hyperion treated him the way they did.

There is no point using any of them. All they can offer is ports of really old games.

Real as in real for peeps living in 1995 and using the Amiga culture and platforms to make sure we all join them? no thank you. I prefer to try and live outside the bubble.

Vampire resolution support is not exactly great.

Doesnt feel good but you are quite right. I am on my side disapointed for so many years. The only way out this is to flee into sarcasm sometimes.

Please have a look at the A-EON site http://www.a-eon.com/
And please click on the Aladin4D or ImageFX or Warp3D on the left menue. Nothing but mildly hot Air/Vaporware. And Trevor? I like him and he has done some good. But he is astonishing small lipped when it comes to the aquisition of the OS4 Kernel. No post on Trevors Blog or A-EON site. BTW. Please look at the press releases on A-EONs site. Last entry from 2017. The air becomes colder and colder. The categorically denial of the kernel sale proves it ones more...

@LarsB

I'm just watching the AmiWest 2019 coverage of Trevor's speech which gives a soft launch date for the Tabor at long last:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zv-F9i9zAxw

See 30:30 duration to hear the "anticipated delivery time of the A1222"! They will build five test boards in the UK and conduct testing and QA. Then at a subsidiary in Eastern Europe the 'Early Adopter' boards will be built with a 16 week lead time! So that's a small run of around 100 boards ready in Q2 of 2020 (my maths)!

That's quite a ETA slip but it's a launch date of sorts. $450 for these cheaper 'first run' A1222-EA machines before the price rises!

Tony Wyatt will meanwhile update the Hyperion ISO disc images for AmigaOS on all the AmigaOne machines inc the X5000/40 and a new X5000+ machine with updated graphics card / sound card / wifi card with new driver etc.

Thanks Trevor!

You raised the question what kind of fools we are ... ;)

Do you belive the plans to be reliable? Before christmas practically nothing will be done. You got experience how this things can run / or fail. I dont think Trevors estimations are valid. I am with the Commodore guys since mid of the 80s. My hometown Salzgitter is near to Brunswick where the A2000 was produced. Ive lived thorugh tons of stories. Many of them included the keyword "disappointing".

But thanks for the link.
