I just ordered my X5000 system last night from Amiga On The Lake. Now, the pre-release ISO is not ready yet, but Aaron said he should have it in the next few days. Then my system will ship to me.

Maybe that's why Matt is holding off a listing, until the complete package is ready to ship?

Funny you would blur out the first two sets of numbers/letters in the registration identification, and not the last set of numbers/letters, as quite often, it is the last set of numbers/letters which are different, and the first two sets of numbers/letters can often be identical.

Good to see that Hyperion might finally be almost ready to release 4.1 for the X5000, so Trevor and Matthew can at last begin selling their long stored supply of X5000 motherboards, and complete X5000 systems.

Now I wonder how the MorphOS Development Team is doing toward completing the last bits of MorphOS3.10 with support for the X5000. I think I read somewhere that the only thing lacking for X5000 support in MorphOS3.10 was the completion of the video card driver for the specific Radeon HD video card chosen by A-Eon to be installed in complete X5000 systems, but other reports have mentioned that the release of MorphOS3.10 is not dependent on the completion of support for the X5000, and that 3.10 will only be released when all components of it are finished, regardless of what is happening with the sales of X5000 systems and/or motherboards.

Exactly. The release of MorphOS 3.10 is not bound to the actual X5000 release. Unfortunately there were a few issues that delayed the release. But the release will probably be not too far off in the future.

@Zylesea

So all the stories about the launch of X5000 delayed exclusively from slowness of OS4.1 development, while MOS port was already ready to use on it, were not true...

@kyle

Afaik the MOS port is already running on X5000 since way back.

The last thing I heard, what is currently holding a public release of MOS 3.10 back is the sudden need to rewrite replacements of some OS contributions they don't have the legal right to redistribute anymore because the contributor changed his mind.

The X5000 support of MorphoS is ready. But 3.10 itself is not ready. If 3.10 is too far off there is nothing hindering the MorphOS team to just drop out a 3.9 release with added X5000 support any time.

Tokai left the team. This caused additional work.

I hope the rest of the team learned from this event, and future work by all team members will be owned by the team, and not individual programmers who can leave and demand that all of their code be removed from any, or all releases of MorphOS. IMO, the MorphOS Development Team should require every team member to sign their portion of code contained within each version of MorphOS over to the team (or maybe Ralph), so this type of problem can't occur in the future.

Not sure what happened to make Tokai want to leave, and take his code with him, but from the outside looking in, it would appear that he got angry with one or more members of the team, or angry towards the MorphOS community, and this is his way of hurting that person, or persons back, by taking his code away from MorphOS.

Without any agreement in place regarding the ownership of the code within MorphOS, it is each members right to withdraw their code from the project, but it is a shame that any of the members would do this, and hurt all the users who appreciate using that code.

You can't expect developers to hand over all their code for what amounts to pocket money.

I am definitiately interested in buying an X5000 beside my other two OS4 machines. Not sure exactly when, but sure to do.

When the public is informed about the A-Eon page where interest can be set, I added my address. Then a message arrived in july containing this:
"Your details are now recorded, and we will make contact when we have news of the next available batch."

Since then I got the feelings that the X5000 was hit the street. Amiwest announcement, users posting experiences, A-Eon site lists distributors, OS update is released, etc.

From time to time I checking amigakit.eu, but a backplate is the only thing concerning the X5000.
The other distributor's pages all say that the product is not available.

May I ask for a clear sentence what is the current situation of this product and what it will be in short time? May I worry that I miss this train if not hurry, just like the X1000?

I choosed the public way for the questions because I think they are quite general. No bashing, no trolling, just asking.

Thanks in advance!

@Lazi

I just got my X5000 last night via Amiga on the Lake (US reseller).

I am fortunate that I only have to make a short drive to pick it up in person. I think I was the second one in the states but their orders are shipping out now. They offered great service and opened up my customized build to give me a tour of the hardware and then booted the machine up for me to show me around. There was a lot of excitement in the office while they were starting the shipping process of the X5000 I got to tell you, coming from an Amiga user in the US it is refreshing/surreal/awesome to see this. :)

My plan is to put MorphOS on it as well as linux but right now trying to get used to OS 4 and get it to do what I want it to do... needless to say, having a blast.

Very cool.
That is the vendor I intend to work with.
He is VERY responsive to PMs.

Blimey it is now two months since I last posted this. I wonder if Amigakit would like to offer any update as to when we can finally purchase an X5000?
