What i didn't understand is that why there is so much fuzz about "NOT AEON! BUT TREVOR!", while everyone know who is who. Its like saying , "NOT HYPERION! BUT BEN HERMANS!". Sure, words different, but what the problem with it, and who care if it just a Trevor buy it, or Trevor buy it under AEON label and give control on it to Mattew ?:)

I mean, i see no reassons for all that mambo jambo. But hey hey , its amiga ! :)

@kas1e

Unfortunately, ridiculous as it may seem, it IS important as there are legal ramifications and as we have all seen anything Amiga related always ends up stuck in "legaleze". People seem to forget that words DO mean something and when dealing with legaleze every word and punctuation mark counts and must be understood or we end up right where we are today.

Part of that mess is "who" owns a particular item or trademark and while on a conceptual level we "understand" ownership, to the legal world what we understand may not be legally correct.

Hence the loads of Bullshit we are so familiar with in Amigaland.

In a legal sense, distinguishing between private persons (Dickinson, Hermans) and legal entities (A-EON, Hyperion) is very important. Especially when there is a legal war under way.

I suspect you're just being kind here.
It's clear as day that complete honesty and transparency isn't possible because doing so would reveal how useless and incompetent those in charge are and advertising that will cost them their remaining few customers.
It's probably bad business to market and advertise punchline after punchline, so they try to give the impression it's not an incompetent circus :)

Despite my negativity towards the whole scene I do actually wish this was a mindless rant, and not a frustrated vent. Unfortunately it's exactly true.

@dirkzwager
That was a simple mistake on Brian's part. Trevor purchased ExecSG and he assumed that meant "A-EON" which was incorrect.

Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along.

What is left of AmigaOS 4.x? Is there actually anyone working on it?
A-Eon have bought many components and developed them further.
Now, even the new kernel destined for AmigaOS 4.2
It doesn’t bode well for a new, full AmigaOS 4.x release.

@outlawal2 @Trixie

Who actually put the signature on the contract is a technical detail that only matters to the buyer and seller, and even then mostly in case of a potential dispute. Whether it’s AmigaKit LTD, Amiga Technology LTD, A-Eon Technology LTD, Leman Computing Limited, Matthew Leman, Trevor Dickinson or his dog doesn’t really matter to Anyone outside.

So who owns Exec-SG? Is it:

- The Hyperion Sphere? No!
- The Cloanto Sphere? No!
- The MorphOS Sphere? No!
- The AROS Sphere? No!
- The AeonKit Sphere? YES!

The first and the last entities are the only interesting ones, the entire base of many months of unnecessary speculations in the community. “Is it true that AeonKit has taken the single most important component of OS4 out of the hands of Hyperion?” The answer turned out to be: Yes!

So almost everyone was correct in their speculations then, good to finally know!

@Kotler

It has been deteriorating and disintegrating over the course of many, many years. The OS itself has no modern graphic system, poor support of relevant graphics cards, few associated people left (anyone?) that actually have the low level OS programming competence to write drivers, so the MorphOS Team(!) had to provide one of the OS4 drivers for the Cyrus Plus motherboard. And now they don’t even have “The Kernal”!

So, what happened to X kernel? Is it part of ExecSG now, or its totally different thing?

You are wrong.

1)
a) AmigaOS4 developer Davy Wentzler wrote drivers for music cards for the MorphOS.
b) AmigaOS4 uses modern PCIe graphics cards: RadeonHD, Rx, R9, Polaris with 2D / 3D /shader and support > 256MB VRAM.
c) AmigaOS4 supports HD audio.
d) http://hunoppc.amiga-projects.net/content/reborn-return-castle-wolfenstein
e) Doom III: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DzRZdDTXQAAsVO6.jpg
f) OpenGL ES, SDL2, NGfilesystem ...
g) AmigaStore
h) Commercial games: EntwicklerX: Spencer ... or Hyperion: Shogo, Gorky17,

Show me this for MorphOS?

2)
Takeover of ExecNG by a private person: earlier: Friedens -> now: Trevor Dickinson.
This protection has already worked once -> (Amiga Inc vs Hyperion)

TripOS, the self styled spokesman for the MorphOS team (For anyone new to this circus and is actually confused on who these faceless protagonists are, he actually doesn't officially speak for the MorphOS team, nor does he form part of that development team)
His specialty is that he talks a lot of tripe and very much acts the troll.

If anyone is guilty of poor support of relevant graphics cards, you really do need to be booking yourself an appointment at Specsavers. Perhaps some laser corrective eye-surgery will help cure you of your blue misted myopia.

I personally see whatever purchase or development of ExecSG that is going on as nothing but a positive. Trevor and the rest of the A-Eon team have always come across as positive and supportive people who want to move things forward and bring people on board and yes that does also include any members of the MorphOS Team who have helped them out with their drivers. They certainly shouldn't be any shame in admitting that and from speaking to both Trevor and Matthew at shows, they have been open about mentioning this very fact.

I am guessing they offered their services because a) the developer was being paid money and b) The A-Eon team is above all the red camp/blue camp bullshit and actually appreciates the work they do.

From where I am standing, there is little to recommend MorphOS over AmigaOS if using current hardware you can buy brand new from a retailer. In fact if you own an X5000 or a Sam 460, I am very much now of the opinion that you are better off sticking with AmigaOS full stop and save yourself the MorphOS licence fee. Put that money away in a bank, treat the long suffering other half to a slap up meal, save yourselves the disappointment that will come from using an under powered graphics card from 2005. That is the reality, until they deal with the elephant in the room.

It is true that AmigaOS lacks an up to date browser, but I have a sneaky feeling they will be first to have that situation rectified well before the blue camp gets round to finally supporting graphics cards which first appeared in 2015

MorphOS trolls like yourself would be best advised actually speaking to your contacts within the MorphOS Team and getting them to make use of some of the talents on the
A-Eon team, in order to make the MorphOS product a little better. From where I am standing that butterfly is really stuck somewhere under a rock struggling.

It's one single driver, as for Aros and AmigaOS4.

@outrun1978

I have to echo your comments. Both Mark and Frank have been very supportive of the A-EON hardware projects in providing important software development. We are very grateful for the contribution they have made - which has been to the benefit of OS4 equally as much as MorphOS. My hope is that the X5000 will become a unifying platform as we continue working with them in future.
