Space... I enjoy WinUAE very much, but I for the life of me cannot run it as smooth as I would like, had I had an Amiga running in a FPGA I could play them flawlessly. I wouldn't need to have an extra box, using an extra monitor, that might be a plus also... _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. The Illusion of Choice | Am*ga |

It's certainly possible make Amiga on PCI card or even USB but very unlikely to happen due to the hardware and software development required to pull it off.
You could mount an existing FPGA Amiga inside your PC using a capture card for the video output and a KVM for your input devices. It's a bit of a crude solution but it should work more less as you want and can be done with hardware that can be bought today.
The Vampire V4 has about the same footprint as a 3.5" drive, although might ticky to mount it in 3.5 bay it should be easy using a 5.25 bay. |

Yes, but it would cost a packet.
It all depends on how you want to have your connection between both computers and how fast ECS/AGA/RTG Amiga should be.
It can range from a Minimig like hardware on a PCI card with a serial connection to the PC up to shared memory ... |

Go back a few decades, there were a few of these proposed. I joined a mailing list for one but it never eventuated. |

Indeed that would also be a neat solution, and right on par with what @Claude1079 is doing regarding pistorm, but having seen what a minicomputer can do I wonder if we gave it full reign over a big computer. xD
@OneTimer1 Well if instead of a standalone system like mister we had it on a pci card with less io on it perhaps it could cost about the same. There's a plan to have PiStorm connected to a FPGA to get it fresh custom chips, I talk about PiStorm because afaik the emulated cpu doesn't seem to be as important for games as the custom chips seems to be, we could then have x86 emulating 68k if needed be. You can see here also in pistorm fronto how they use the hdmi in to get the amiga rgb signal: https://twitter.com/Claude1079/status/1642514081968975872?s=20
edit:
Interesting projet with cm4 mounted on a pci boardLast edited by pixie on 04-May-2023 at 11:08 AM. Last edited by pixie on 04-May-2023 at 08:00 AM.

Nice!! If memory serves me right it was Steve Jones from Checkmate's fame behind it! Quote:
The final spin of the coin was the PCI Amiga project which was going to be sold by Gateway 2000 inc. until they pulled the plug and the project collapsed. The PCI Amiga was part of a transition of Amiga OS using Siamese technology to x86 and would have been the best route IMHO. At this point I left the Amiga market and swore I would never get involved in Amiga’s again. |
