Great, man!

At the end of the ride one has more regrets of what he/she did NOT do, then what he/she actually managed to do (and with hindsight questioned the sanity of the action).

At an exchange rate of 1 NOK to 0,0875418 EURo, I do hope you enjoy it!

What's the complete specification?

@alef

Enjoy it! I've loved my X5000 ever since the beginning of the beta test program, and it's by far the most used computer in our house. If you need any help, let the folks over at amigans.net know, but keep us updated, too!

Congratulations - I hope you'll enjoy your X5000 as much as I've been enjoying mine in the past five years. Give us a shout at amigans.net if you need help, or good software recommendation.

So, that's quad core right? Can you use 4 cores under Linux? Is that the USP on this thing? I don't count a Workbench 4.x: Show All Files/Snapshot>ALL feature as a USP myself but I've heard that the opensource Blender program and the "not nearly as good as Superfrog but at least it's using my Enhancer pack 3D driver" platformer 'Spencer' are both things that exist for said machine? So good times!?! Will it put AmigaOS back at the top of the Folding Team chart?

...just asking.

Bully for you @alef, but this specific line was unnecessary. You could’ve just shared your excitement with the community, but no, the “alpha” in you just couldn’t resist to throw in this smug barb.

Anyway, it’s been my experience, and studies have shown, that the feeling of regret is directly proportional to the amount of time following ego and super ego based purchases.

That regret you’re not feeling right now, it’s there but it’s being suppressed by the dopamine and oxytocin production. As the levels of those drops, which they inevitably will, the serotonin will come through and that inner voice triggered by endorphins as a defense mechanism will come up with all manner of excuses to stave off the growing feeling of regret:
- You only live once
- This is more than a semi-functional computer, it’s a piece of history
- I have pragmatic tools for other things, this is an extension of my identity
- I can still run Linux on it
- At least I’m not an alcoholic/smoker/gambler
- etc.

So you see, you regretting this particular purchase is just a matter of time. But I’ll tell you who won’t regret your purchase: A-EON et al.

Enjoy the honeymoon.

@ppcamiga1

Why are you so emotionally attached to this lump of plastic and wires? Please ask yourself this seriously...please! WHY IS THE PPC CPU YOUR GOD? Many other ISAs are available, free yourself!

Too much reality this early in March?

I was content to be a wallflower in this one were it not for that one line. I just can’t abide snide.

In Australia, there is a well documented social phenomenon known as the Tall Poppy Syndrome. He was being a tall poppy, and I did what any decent Australian would’ve done: Hopefully take him down a peg, or two. For his own good of course.
