On my site and on os4depot it is possible to download a new version of MPlayer.

This version is compiled with new SDK and NewLib.
Look at os4depot "read me" for all news.
Please report all bugs to me as usual

Thank You.

Downloading now,

I've registered DVPlayer but I do prefer the range of options that MPlayer has to offer. I'll be standing by both of these.

Cheers AFX

Already downloaded it and the threads.library, and yes it works! It's faster but still the motion can't cope quite correctly with the sound and music playing. It seems that sound and music always are 2 steps ahead of the entire scene playing...

DVPlayer is actually the best one, but MPlayer is catching up nicely, i think

@Helgis

Have you tried using the commands "-framedrop" & "-forceidx". These help keep the audio & video in sync. If you still have out of sync audio, you can press the + & - keys to adjust the audio/video delay & resync it yourself.

I do a little test with CPUClock.docky and I find DVPlayer faster. It uses less CPU in all the test ( AVI, MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 ).

But I like Mplayer! Very good work! Keep optimizing it!

I agree that DVPlayer is the fastest and the smoothest. Seems it uses some special rutines, compared to MPlayer. I noticed that too. The only drawback currently with the DVPlayer is that there is some license issue to the right for using the AC3 audio decoding, as i noticed on the homepage for DVPlayer..

I've notived the CPU usage too. DVPlayer here hovers around 55-60% usage with a high res video while MPlayer is a rock 100% usage. MPlayer keeps the speed up better than DV for me with large resolution movies though.

@Yogi

I believe we have a little wait before even the registered version of DVPlayer plays encrypted DVD's.

@thread

Please post further comments on the "new" version of MPlayer to the thread
on the front page.
There is a known problem with Xoops (used on this site) where it is not possible
to access any pages in "news" threads other than the first and last page.
That problem would prevent many testers from responding to the thread in this
"news" section.

Thank you.

Best Wishes,
#6

I cannot find "Preview 5" on OS4Depot nor Aminet. I only locate "Preview 4".

---

what do you mean here? is dvplayer actually slower for you than mplayer?
But at the same time you say that mplayer hogs the cpu at 100% ....

that aint making sense , its the opposite here (dvplayer outperforms mplayer in any res and size)though i know most users here use frameskip and such with their mplayer and right now i wonder...do you?

i would really love to reproduce this though i need your exact line for mplayer along with your system specs (ie..if you have a G4 or not) and the actual file you used for testing.

cheers
