what classes as inactive? (This is probably a moot point because I've posted this comment, but I thought it was worth asking) Do you need to just sign in to keep your account active or is it a post that you need to make?

Cheers

DaveyD: should this information remain sticky for some time to give the users the possibility to see this message. Five days are not enough (IMHO).

I think it's a good decision. 18 months is enough.

Well the number is lower than it was when I did a spot check about 8-12 months ago. Back then, the number of accounts that hadn't logged in for more than 12 months was in the 2-2400 range.

You see, there are people that don't post much, only read the forums. So the community is a bit bigger than those few that discuss every topic on 10+ pages . However, accounts of those hidden ones are safe because they log in and that's enough to keep their account. And if they don't log in, then they don't need the account.

Why? Do you mean that they can read the whole site or participate in polls
without logging in?
If so, that is categorically untrue.
xoops polls (at right) require log for both voting and reading the comments,
while polls in threads and comments on those polls do not.
You will also see links at left of AW front page that are not accessible unless
logged in.
So....even merely reading the entire site is not possible without log in.
It's something to think about before deciding NOT to register. You miss out on
some of the AW site contents.
