| Nice but too expensive for our market, it's definitely not for the Amiga user.
Edit: I was just remembering that everyone said the A1 was to expensive, and it was 1100$, IIRC.
Edit2: typos. Last edited by elwood on 07-May-2007 at 08:09 PM. Last edited by elwood on 07-May-2007 at 08:09 PM.

| Speak for yourself. If this is released, and is actually available in the UK for the actual equivalent price (IE £750, not £1500), i'll be very, very tempted. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6

Are yopu crazy!
It's the same price as a microA1 system!
However, until I see these units shipping from dealers I count this whole episode as some kind of pretence played for the benefit of a court and its jury. |

Did you say the same for the A4000 and A3000 which actually were MUCH MUCH more than $1498 ? _________________ AmigaOS 4.x Beta Tester - Classic Amiga enthusiast - http://www.hd-zone.com is my Amiga Blog, check it out!

| Jesus! That's not an amiga that's a beast!
I really-really hope they can drop this monster into the market with os4 installed on it and future develpment of our OS is secured.

| If this is actually sold, I'll most likely buy one.
The x2 PCI-Express slot sounds unusual. Seems everythign I've seen is x1 or x4 other than graphics cards. I'd kindof like to see him use slots that can physically accept at least a x4 cardseven if only x1 or x2 is wired up. The PCI-Express spec intends that cards (actually the chips on them) are supposed to still function at lower communication speeds when connected to smaller width ports. The spec for PCI-Express intends that larger cThen you're not limited to x1 and x2 hardware mechanically. Even if it's not running at full speed it'd be nice to be able to plug in and use a x4 card or perhaps even another graphics card that would only run at x2 if the slot can hold the x16 card. That may not be useful today with OS4, but neither is 64bit or dual-core. Using a larger plastic slot connector with only the x1 or x2 wiring present shouldn't make much if any difference to the PCB layout either.

| The CPU only costs 950$, how can they do all the rest for just 500$? And this includes board developement... _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation

| Well here is to hoping that new users can have a platform for OS4 (or OS5) before 2009. That would be nice. Maybe this could be it? _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200

| 64 bit cpu hey? Dual core hey?
Which OS is this beast going to run?
I am already thinking 4GB DDR2, Nvidia 8800 GTX 768MB or even a Radeon 1950 XTX, 2x500GB hard drive with Amiga OS installed and maybe even Mac OS X, Linuz or Windoze if it could run on PPC...
Ah the possibilities... _________________ www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

And compared to modern high end machines, it is not expensive at all !!
Q1. Will OS4 make use of 64bit CPU ? Q2. How many other OS is it able to run ?

| Hm, nice specs, but there`s not a single word about release schedule or expected market date. Having this board available in 2007-early 2008 would be interesting. _________________ Cuida tus piedras gordas.

| Very nice system. Pictures ?
This would bring Amiga computers back from the past and into the future.
Noone can argue with these specs. With this new hardware will bring exciting new software and open the platform to new customers.
If only now we can get a minimum of 50,000 systems built and in the hands of distributers we can create a new userbase and hence a bigger market.
Well done Amiga + ACK. _________________ Download 499.26 Mbps, 659.94 Mbps Upload :)

Just remember that whatever spec is released, you still need the OS you use to have drivers for it. So even though you may want to slap a NVidia 8800GTX in it, no NVidia driver exists for OS4 for example, so it would be a little pointless sadly.
Of course, IF drivers can be created for those cards then we will have a nice machine. The only caveat is as DrBombcrater pointed out, with only one PCI slot, and no onboard sound option, you'll be filling your only PCI slot with a soundcard. Last edited by _Steve_ on 08-May-2007 at 07:27 AM.

I know almost nothing about hardware internals but aren't there 4 slots listed?
@Elwood They haven't listed what the components will be yet (ram, hd etc.), but if this is for a complete system it's not bad compared to "usual-Amigaish-prices"... especially when compared with the (in)famous AmigaOnes...
I just hope they won't do the usual unfair conversion 1$=1E
I wonder of what use a 64bit/dual processor will be for AOS4 though...Last edited by Nibunnoichi on 07-May-2007 at 08:17 PM.
