Software News   Software News : Swamp Defense - Demo available!
   posted by imagodespira on 24-Jul-2011 15:17:58 (5687 reads)
We have released a demo version of our new game called "Swamp Defense". It contains two maps to try.

Swamp Defense is a tower defense game. It is a complete self made development and high optimized for Amiga OS 4.1 based computers with Radeon cards. It also works on classic Amigas with Radeon cards.

The game engine is scalable and is optimized for 1920x1080 pixels screensize (should work on AOne and Sam460 in this Resolutions).

The full version will be available within the next weeks for 20,-€ and includes following features:

- 15 unlockable maps (gets mor maps after release)
- 8 types of enemies
- endles waves after unlocking the maps (if you are good enough)
- connection to amiboing.de for Highscore, Statistics and Achievements
- HD gaming experience (graphics optimized for 1080p)
- River Pirates is coming this year as second defense game and it is included in license of Swamp Defense

Download Demo:
http://amiboing.de/gameDetail.php?id=11

Additional game info´s and How to Play:
http://amiboing.de/games/swampDefense/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
- for faster loading on slower machines (classics) disable title music (in config tool -> no music)
- use fullscreen to let the game close the workbench to save gfx mem on machines with less gfx memory (radeon 7000, 32mb)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this game and its engine are many month of hard work in sparetime, it is not just a port, it is high optimized for OS 4.1 and its functions to get best performance and quality. Graphics are self painted and not to use for other project than ours ;)

Look at our pages: www.amiboing.de and entwickler-x.de for any news. For Download this demo you don´t need an amiboing.de account (just for full versions and online features).

Help us to improve the quality and find bugs we can´t find due missing hardware configurations. Please write contact us if you have problems: mail@entwickler-x.de

Have Fun!

Amiboing.de team its one of not so many available professionals on amiga. Their stuff always quality and professionally done. That demo as usually rokz, very playable and will be cool to have full version of game. More teams like this, and amiga for whole world will be something small, but proffesionally done.

Please don't type the resolution in the textfield directly, use the left monitor button.

@goos

Btw, got few crashes. First one not so important one, but still:

I (just for testing purposes) trying to run game 2 times at time and it says: "can't register Application, be sure SwampDefence does not run", and then not exit, but crashes instead with such crash log:

Quote:

Symbol info:
Instruction pointer 0x7E6B0AA0 belongs to module "SwampDefense" (PowerPC)
Symbol: _ZN5CDraw10loadBitMapEPcffbb + 0x2DC in section 7 offset 0x00010CAC

native kernel module dos.library.kmod+0x0001b524
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x00063d50
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x00063dd0

Its understanable of cource that game want to be running one time, but second running should not crashes, but exits without crash (imho there you just forget to add correct return or kind?)

The second crash, was a bit "hard to get", and hard to reproduce, and i got it only one time: I just run game in window mode first , play abit, exit, run again, exit. Then i go to config window (as i not so understand how to change in the game from window to fullscreen, only from configure-prefs , right ?) and then running in the fullscreen mode give me crash on loading of maps, with such stack trace:

Quote:

Symbol info:
Instruction pointer 0x018273CC belongs to module "kernel.debug" (HUNK/Kickstart)

Stack trace:
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x000273cc

native kernel module dos.library.kmod+0x0001b524
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x00063d50
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x00063dd0

But i get it only one time, and after reboot i can't reproduce it for now anymore. Will try to do more tests in that terms. Maybe it was happens just in some condition when i stop previous game and when running second time it trying to start from the same place .. dunno.

Anyway, while i can't reproduce it , its not so worth to worry about. The game itself very nice , and everything looks really proffesionally.

@goos
And one more crash. That one reproducable always after reboot: I just run game in full screen mode, and leave it in the options screen (where is start-game/family/statistic menu). I do nothing, and after ~5 minuts it crashes , with such stack trace:

Quote:

Symbol info:
Instruction pointer 0x0181FD74 belongs to module "kernel.debug" (HUNK/Kickstart)

Stack trace:

native kernel module newlib.library.kmod+0x00002b90
native kernel module newlib.library.kmod+0x00002d54
SwampDefense:_start()+0x170 (section 7 @ 0x170)
native kernel module dos.library.kmod+0x0001b524
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x00063d50
native kernel module kernel.debug+0x00063dd0

Pressing on "continue" few times back to the game (which continue to works).

PS. all the tests i do from RAM: (if that make any sense), and all the tests on PEG2 / update2.

@kas1e
thanks for crash reports
ok i will fix the "second running crash".
the second report i will try to reproduce this on my machines.
the third is a problem in compination with the debug kernel, i get this report in the past from a AOS Classic betatester, on my end user kernel this crash does not occur.
btw. where can i get the kernel.debug i dont find it in the kickstart directory ?

My one (as far as i remember) was in Kickstart by default (for peg2 distrib of aos4). But i remember that some distribs (or updates) not have it, but can't be sure ..

Hello, I 've downloaded the demo's lha, unpack it to ram and copied to my hd. When clicking the executable, the game complains of missing two shared objects; one is "libz.so" the other one can't remember it right now (something like ..2-2.6.so). Checked my SO's drawer and I have both of them. Downloaded from OS4Depot again, replaced them in the SO'folder, soft reboot and I still get the same error message. Afterwards, I 've downloaded Bubbelsche deluxe demo, and I get "libz.so" is missing :( . Can you help me? Should I copied the SOs in a different drawer? I really would like to try your games. My system is SamEP6677, 512MB Ram, M9. Games' drawer are being copied and launched by a work partition (DH1) and not copied in the system's one (DH0) fwiw.

Hi,

i think ther must be a software which has changed your sobj. Try to empty the sobj drawer and copy the original files from your OS4.1.1 CD and the files from 4.1 update 2 archive. Then you have the original files.

best regards,
imagodespira
