I concur, the details on the site are limited. Evidently that's the first sales and marketing task.

I'd also like to get a sense of the backing. The Kickstarter campaign appears to have been a dud.

I think they say it shares some ideas...

but on .NET you can install components by copying files in a directory like on amiga, is that making .NET to amiga related? I think not.

It's certainly not Vapourware, as I recorded both of the videos using FriendUP and its internal chat client, you can even try out the beta for yourself:

For those asking how it is Amiga-inspired. Well, not just the default GUI looks and reacts like the Amiga, it also shares a similar directory structure and the Shell is very similar to the AmigaDOS CLI, it uses many of the same commands.

Their lead developer, Hogne, previously worked on AROS, so the project came out of that.

If not for the names Pleasance and Proudfoot being involved, I would consign this OS to the yet another weak attempt to revive the Amiga feeling through yet another Amiga-like OS. These two people helped keep C= UK alive and profitable. It is possible that this attempt may actually gain a large following unlike CommodoreOS, AROS, MorphOS, AmigaOS4.x, Syllable, and Haiku. Who knows?

It is the way he reimagines Amiga in 2016. I am cautiously optimistic about this.

I really think if the Amiga were being designed now it would be in the cloud.

Its a interesting idea, I think the internet is slowly moving this way anyway, there some cool online/html5 apps out there. So I be interested to see where this goes and wish them luck if not for anything else just for sponsoring some cool Amiga 30th shows last year.

FriendsUP...... did watch the web feed from amiga30 (USA) and I dont see how friends up has anything todo with amiga.

So its a OS in a web browser whats the point. ? Or am I issing something

Excellent videos as always.

A lot of infectious enthusiasm, although the elevator story still isn't emerging yet.

The problem with platitudes like "it does so much we have a tough time describing it", "we hope it will be the commercial version of Facebook" and "we want it to be a more user-friendly version of Linux" is that they make it sound like another... (gasp) Digiverse.

Technically, it sounds a lot like ChromeOS with interoperability extensions.

They have nothing to do with Amiga other than that Hogne came to the Amiga 30s shows and promoted a product that no one understands what is.

I dont understand their marketing neither. Silly company.

Dont understand why they was part of Amiga30

They just follow what Be Inc did in 1996 or 1995 don't really recall precisely.

It should be pretty obvious... they're preaching to the choir.

Attending and sponsoring Amiga events afforded them the opportunity to meet many others who could potentially be interested in the technology and willing to contribute or help promote the cause.

I'm sure that they were also hoping that Hyperion, A-EON etc. would sign on as partners - even just to endorse the effort.

Besides the predictable "it doesn't have anything to do with the Amiga" comment, the other quip that keeps popping up in Dan's channel is "this won't be able to compete with [x]."

Why do members of the Amiga community think that every product or service must be dominant to be viable?
