-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emotion Mediaplayer:

Emotion is a powerful multimedia player specially developed for AmigaOS 4.x. The easy-to-usebewusste interface, deliberate limitation to required basic functions, as well as optimization on operating system functions, makes Emotion to a software that integrates perfectly into the current AmigaOS.

The use of FFMpeg as subsystem for video and audio decoding (through AmigaOS specific shared libraries) allows emotion to access proven and powerful technologies in the background. Due to the Reaction based interface in combination with optimized operating system functions and FFMpeg as a decoder, Emotion understands itself as its own interpretation of a multimedia player which is not just a port of existing open source projects but tries to connect tried and tested technologies with the ecosystem of AmigaOS.

Emotion looks like an AmigaOS software, works like a … it’s an AmigaOS software!

Features:
– Compositing based video scaling on RadeonHD graphics cards
– YUV video acceleration (RadeonHD 2.0)
– Video overlay (PIP) on Radeon 9xxx graphics cards
– Software rendering, on classic Amiga and emulation
– Supports local video files and web streams
– Fullscreen, window und borderless mode
– recent list, for reopen media files
– Supports video subtitles and multiple audio tracks
– Optimization for Altivec
– Enable / disable video filters (on compositing based graphics cards)
– FFMpeg based video decoding, optimized for the most used codecs
– easy-to-use Reaction based GUI, AISS Icons, AmigaOS 4.1 F.E. context menu
– Conscious focus on basic functions and optimization for AmigaOS
– ARexx port
– Manual and automatic Frameskip

System requirements:
– Amiga or compatible Computer with AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition (Update 1 recommended)
– Graphics card: ATI Radeon 9xxx, ATI RadeonHD (RadeonHD Driver V2.0 recommended)
– Executable in software mode also without Radeon Karte (classic or Emulation)

Before buying, please test the demoversion extensively!

Thank you thank you thank you, well worth the EUR25.00 for anyone who hasnt bought it or who is thinking about buying, just buy it, it works brilliantly on a Sam 460cr/Amigaone500 set up a fantastic replacement for either DvPLayer or Mplayer and really simple to use

Made the purchase on AmiStore to support the cause.

Works fairly well.

So far this is what I experience so far with vids....

720P AVI seems fine.

720P MKV hit and miss. Most are choppy audio and video.

Anything below 720P seems fine too.

This is on an X5000 with Radeon HD 7750 Video Card.

Thank you.

Just purchased it, Thanks for the work. couple of niggles:

in the english guide:

ESC Stopp

(an extra p)

in the program ESC on fullscreen returns to workbench window mode, on workbench it does nothing.

Arexx section has description for FULLSCREEN in german.

@Severin:

ESC Stopp:
Sorry, my fault. In german it is with the extra p since a while, maybe a copy&paste issue.

ESC Stop:
Is also my fault, should never set to stop. Like you see in the menu, Start/Stop should be SPACE.

SPACE is mapped for playing/stopping

ESC is only for returning into workbench window if the player is in fullscreen

Thanks for the reports, it will be fixed in the next update. We collect some things in our list, i think there will come some more next days. Sorry for that ;)

@all: thanks for purcasing!

@performance things: please try the demo before purchasing and see if Emotion is what you expect. The demo is based on the same core as the full version, so perfectly to try.

Note that we have no hardware acceleration for decoding, so we are depending on the pure CPU Power. Every other system (also the smaller ones like Rasberry or entry based tablets etc.) have a hardware to help decoding. We not. So we only can try our best for a good performance (within the CPU bounds and our skill bounds!) and hope for some hardware decoding in future ;)

Another very much welcomed Entwickler-X product that looks stunningly professional!
Thank you!

It does simply works on my Sam460, even if limitations arise pretty soon because of the slow CPU.
Looking forward to see if there will be any speed increase when I will get myself a Tabor (and later on a X5000 with a P5040).

After reading the blog post about the game Tower57 on Tabor I was amazed by the performance difference between standard ppc executable (20fps) and the executable especially compiled for SPE (40fps).
Wondering whether if Emotion might take advantage too by a SPE dedicated compiled executable.

Video playback is mainly integer+memory performance stuff, Tabor has clear advantage over SAM460 there. SPE version wouldn´t help much more.

Standard ppc FPU is emulated on Tabor = slower than native (SPE) performance...

Bought a copy (to support EntwicklerX).

SD resolution (360p) works OK on a Sam460ex, but the CPU is to slow for higher resolutions.
If the graphics card could decode instead (GPU decoding), that would be great. But that's only in "a perfect world"...

I am pleased to confirm you can now buy Emotion and other apps on AMIStore with a credit card as an alternative payment method to Paypal. I hope this helps some users who prefer this method.

Good question, although I think Emotion is a nicer solution and worth the EUR25.96 paid

Couple of problems with the demo:

1. Can't read the ReadMe.txt - it assumes that I have "Work:Entwicklung/Cubic IDE/Cubic IDE".
2. Can't open a DVD - i can only open individual files from a non-encrypted disk.
3. The "Fast Forward/Backward" buttons don't work.

I expect the demo version to be less than fully-featured and I have no problem with the nag requester. But I would like to think that buying the full version will solve the problems listed above. I would expect the ReadMe to say that, but it says nothing about the demo version.

Does the program read DVD menus? Can I play a commercial, encrypted DVD with the full version?

@Tonyw:

1. ReadMe.txt:
Please ensure that you have installed the newest Emotion Demo (from 17th. February). Should be Version 1.1.

In the new version should´t be any .txt, we replaced the information files with AmigaGuide files.

2. The current version is aimed not as DVD player. Well you can drag n drop or open .vob files but the target ist not to be a DVD player. It is also a problem with encrypted discs. We will look into it but we are not shure that we make Emotion to a full DVD player (with full menu integration it could needs some month of work for a hand full old DVD´s). So currently Emotion is aimed as mediaplayer/videoplayer with the future option for DVD´s but depending on demand and possibilities (also license ones!)

3. By pressing the buttons it should jump 10 seconds forward/backwards
Maybe try the latest demo, perhaps it is solved (we changed some buttons)

@zzd10h:
We will look into it, so maybe we can fis the "crash".

Anyway, our focus first was to get "non corrupted" videos to work instead of broken one.
Maybe we can get a loop or something else like in mplayer but personally i never play videos which are corrupted.

We look into it but it is maybe not the first thing we do in a next update (if it is fast to do, then it should be no problem ;) )
