• Brand new OS4 PPC native version. This is not a simple port, but we have taken great care to ensure it fully utilises of all the relevant new features avaiable in OS4 and as such requires a minimum of OS4.1 Final Edition. • TextEditField object has had an overhaul, fixing various issues and adding new features. Rendering is done in a more MUI4/5 compatible manner allowing these objects to inherit your MUI settings. Your mousewheel can now be used for scrolling and various MUI defined keyboard shortcuts are now honoured.

Ouch that is a bit pricey. £25-30 at the most. Hell all browsers on other platforms are free. I don't expect free on Amiga but 55 euros come in don't take the pxxxx

I'm upgrading from 2.x at 29.99; I find that reasonable (in an Amiga context, of course).

I hope the developers will put the earnings to good use as an incentive for further progress (CSS?).

The upgrade price isn't too bad. Plus I hope it enables them to get the next update out sooner. I know paying for a web browser is different than other platforms, but if Amiga had a full functioning web browser, I would probably use an Amiga as my primary system again. I would be willing to pay for that ability. So I see this as a start in that direction.

BTW

Has anyone tried to install it on OS4 in WinUAE? I can't get it to install. I get an error when I try, on three different pcs.

I downloaded IBrowse 2.5 demo via Netsurf to my SFS partition and then extracted the archive to RAM. Installation was without problem - posting this very post via IBrowse 2.5 under WinUAE/OS4.

IBrowse 2.5 is simply the fastest browser I ever used on OS4. Considering full version purchase.

Try downloading the archive again. One of the protection bits wasn't set right on one of the files. It was reported on the mailing list and Oliver fixed it.

Well where are the people that asked a new IBrowse, here you have the monster of 55 euros.
It is becoming fashionable last years the hight prices in every new big program, this is the new bubble in Amiga?

Yes for MorphOS and AROS not.
Although with 55 euros for OS3.x and OS4.x if they make a version for MOS and AROS will charge us more money.

ya, 60.00 is a rather high price. But when I get my new Amiga I will get it.. Why?? Because i want a web browser that works on the sites I use. I also want to support those who still spend many hours of their lives coding something as large as a web browser for a niche system like ours. To those complaining about the price, don't buy it. Also, don't complain about the state of web browsers on Amiga.

Ok, that's good to know. Glad to know you like it. I went ahead and purchased the upgrade as I would love to be able to use Amiga and Ibrowse on a regular basis again.

I figured it was a problem with my setup. I have been away from Amiga so long, I probably messed something up. I will try downloading again and then maybe try it on a new setup in Winuae.

Come on guys... think about it...

IB2.5 has had 476 documented bug fixes and upgrades over 12 years, mostly by Oliver, to two different packages, the ppc and 68k versions are totally different at a source level. I don't think 35 GBP is over the top and iirc it's the same price as was paid for 2.0 and 2.4. People reporting prices of 50 or 60 must be quoting euros and dollars + paypal costs but there's not much can be done about global currency fluctations and paypals greed.

It seems to me that the vocal few who complain about the full price are the same as complained when 2.4 was released, open your wallets, blow off the moths and take the plunge or just used the demo version and put up with the limitations.

Another option is to buy a second hand keyfile but then it's pot luck if you get one that's not already been sold as there are a few dubious characters out there.

The price hasn't changed it 12 years, Oliver could have taken inflation into account and charged a lot more for his work and don't forget the beta testers who dont see a penny (but did get a free upgrade, but then it was a lot of testig over a lot of time)..

How much did IBrowse cost 16 years ago and last time it was on sale? Yes, 55 euros. How much did it cost before then - about the same, although that was before euros existed . It could be argued that the price has even gone done, since we've not taken inflation into account.

Most people already purchased IBrowse from our previous distributors and it is only fair not to devalue the money they spent on it before by discounting it now. Loyalty has been rewarded to those upgrading, who can benefit from good discounts.

I just purchased and installed the upgrade on my µA1. I have only had a chance to play with it for a few minutes but I noticed right away that it is very fast. A big thank you to Oliver and the IBrowse team. I will try it on my 30 year old A2500 later today. Hard to believe we can still buy new software for these machines.

Funny some complain about the price. The most important software for any OS. With so small community you must support this software. Like someone mention if there was AROS version I would buy it. For classic Amiga I have only interest in the games and demos.

Just about the price. Comparing the price at the time of 2.4 release is not fair. At that time IBrowse was very usable, which unfortunately does not apply today. Be honest.
