• Brand new OS4 PPC native version. This is not a simple port, but we have taken great care to ensure it fully utilises of all the relevant new features avaiable in OS4 and as such requires a minimum of OS4.1 Final Edition. Uses the new graphics.library RTG system, dropping CyberGraphX support completely. Other features include faster image rendering using hardware compositing, anti-aliased text rendering and proper daylight saving time handling.
  
  
• Support for AmiSSLv4 has been added to IBrowse 2.5, allowing the use of the most up to date SSL implementation available for AmigaOS, including TLSv1.3, based on the most recent versions of OpenSSL.
  
  
• Integrated with new MUI 4.0 and 5.0 features, including new context sensitive mouse pointers, support for various built-in MUI menus and other new GUI additions. MUI 3.8 is still supported (although we recommend 3.9 as a minimum).
  
  
• Browser spoofing strings can now be customised in a variety of different ways with up to 128 user defined strings available in the preferences.
  
  
• All the internal image decoders have been improved, with various fixes, alpha channel handling, and speed optimisations. The JPEG and PNG decoders now fully utilise the decoding improvements and optimisations from the current Warp Datatypes, which also includes AltiVec acceleration in the JPEG decoder.
  
  
• Full alpha channel support on >= 15-bit displays (OS4 only).
  
  
• 4Gb+ file handling and downloads, with files bigger than 2Gb now being handled properly in the GUI (OS4 only).
  
  
• The OpenSearch standard is now supported for allowing search engines to automatically be added to the search bar, in addition to the existing older Sherlock/Mycroft support from IBrowse 2.4.
  
  
• TextEditField object has had an overhaul, fixing various issues and adding new features. Rendering is done in a more MUI4/5 compatible manner allowing these objects to inherit your MUI settings. Your mousewheel can now be used for scrolling and various MUI defined keyboard shortcuts are now honoured.
  
  
• Improved general stability and memory leaks plugged.
  
  
• Hundreds of other minor and major bug fixes + improvements, and increased tolerance of broken sites for better compatibility.

Found my version 2 key file on an old backup and got the upgrade price. Nice to see this updated and I hope that the revenue can help finance more updates.

Glad to see it released, i hope this will trigger further development of Ibrowse, and some implementation of CSS would be very important.
For now with the current feature set it is still very limited to use it on almost any website.

morphOS and AROS have both Odyssey which is free, more powerful and on the usual MorphOS and AROS hardware fast enough.

Hence, I doubt there's much demand on MorphOS or ARSO for iBrowse.

Nice for 68k though, albeit a bit pricey.

Well I purchased the full version since the only copy I ever used of IBrowse was the OEM version included with AmigaOS 4.1 itself. At the moment I'm still planning on using Odyssey for most everything, but during AmiWest this year I'll corner Paul Sadlik -- an IBrowse power user -- to learn all of the various things I can do with this browser. His demos in the past have been very impressive; I just wished I could remember more of them!

As an 68k-only Amiga user, this new updated version of iBrowse (after almost a decade), despite its high price, is a welcome addition. Surely I will buy my licence as well, and hope for further updates in the future.

I bought IBrowse back when IOSpirit were selling it so I'm entitled to the discount price of £19.99 which seems reasonable to me. The only problem is because of the outdated webpage rendering engine it isn't particularly useful to me in it's current state.

IBrowse was my favourite browser at one time and I'd like to make that support purchase but I'd like to see some firm commitment to getting version 3 out of the door in a more timely manner than this latest release. Early beta access for paying customers would be nice too.

That good that another version of ibrowse was released, just .. just almost no sites rendres correctly anymore.

CSS and javascript are must today. And i fear, that with speed of development of 2.5 and that those things as css/doms/html5/etc are HUGE task (see how many ppls trying to do so in webkit, netsurt, etc,etc and its still not bug-free/complete enough), we will not see anything of that sort implemented anytime.

Saying that, i will pay 100-150$ easy, if ibrowse will support css/html5/javascript :) But sadly i think that just can't happens by one developer in any reasonable time frame. Expectually seeing how long take 2.5 update.

So, it is worth to buy just to support developer who spend his time on amiga things. But doing so you should know that almost no modern sites will renders right or at all.


As a note about gui itself, i was sure that if they choice to support mui4/5 , then TABS for sure will have close gadget , but they didn't ! Or i didn't find option how to turn it on (but that should be default of course). So you need to press rmb, choice "Close" , i.e. loose time for nothing while you can just press close gadget.

In other words, there that many work need to be done on internal things about css/javascript/dom/etc/html5/etc, and something about gui itself, that i just can't see it possible with the current speed of development that it will happens at all. Sadly, of course.

I bought the original version of IBrowse 1.0 all those years back and upgraded to version 2 when it was released. I too wish I could remember Paul's Ibrowse demos. Maybe we can persuade him to give us his preferenec settings. \

Anyway glad to see IBrowse getting a makeover. I have just upgraded.

I've read that as well. Although they gave me the impression that iBrowse 3 will be available only for AmigaOS 4 in the future; hope not.

Given the time scale and the number of fixes/updates I think the upgrade price is very reasonable.

Cant wait for my upgrade link. I have sent off my Ibrowse2 key so next week will be great.

I must admit I dont understand why pdf files take so long to load on the Enhancer software, but that is a completely different issue.

I agree with you, but I consider it more of an investment in future development. Sort of like a kickstarter for IBrowse 3.0. I really hope to be able to see an IBrowse with modern support for HTML5, CSS, DOM, etc.

Also I only paid $30 for OS4.1FE. Windows 10 Home is $100. And MacOS is much more expensive, as you have to buy an overpriced Mac to get it.

So ultimately I don't see it as too bad, even if it is just wishful thinking.
