Leuven, Belgium - 8th February, 2006

Hyperion Entertainment announces the immediate availability of the fourth update of the AmigaOS4.0 Developer Prerelease.

The new features in this pre-release include:

* All-new Warp3D with support for Voodoo 3/4/5 and ATI Radeon models 7000, 7200, 7500, 9000, 9200 and 9250.
* Petunia Just-In-Time 68k emulator.
* All-new Intuition with advanced features like flicker-free window redraw and new screen dragging features (among other things, screens can be dragged freely in any direction and will reveal other screens beneath even if dragged sideways)
* Updated ExecSG kernel
* New Extended Input System allows the use of mouse wheels on both PS/2 and USB mice, and the use of Multimedia keyboards (with keys like volume control, play/pause etc)
* And much much more. Practically ALL components of the system have been updated.

Registered AmigaOS4.0-Owners can download the update in our Download area immediately.

Again, we would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support.

But will there be a new update of the Warp3D drivers released before OS 4 final when/if the problem is solved or will we have to wait for OS 4 final?

I will tell you when I know.

Thanks Hyperion and Beta testers!

Strange, i successfully managed to burn a full installable Update 4, and
when booting that CD, i got the same trashed Workbench screen. Couldn't
get up a window from the installer making the choices because i'm also
using the Radeon 9200...

I'm convinced that the Radeon 9200-drivers have to be updated and bugfixed,
no matter that there now are 3D-drivers for it in Update 4

Will have to do more testing over the weekend. I'm busy with other stuffs now..

@Helgis

Change UBoot - Amiga Multiboot settings to boot your CD/DVD first
then you'll boot up just fine. This is actually said in the pdf.

although IBrowse (all MUI apps?) flickers as hell when resized.

IBrowse flickers as it uses custom drawing by itself, the system cannot influence that. However you should go to MUI Preferences and under 'Windows' have 'Refresh' set to 'smart' and 'Redraw' set to 'without clear'. That will give you the best performance with MUI apps.

Speaking of MUI, did you notice the about screen mentions it has been compiled
with GCC 4.0.2. Looking forward to the new SDK!

The antialiasing has been improved too it seems. My fonts all look a lot better.. I didnt think there was anything to be improved on, but I was wrong.

Update PHWOARR!

Quote:
New Extended Input System allows the use [...] of Multimedia keyboards (with keys like volume control, play/pause etc)

How do you configure this? I can't see anything in the docs.

Also, USB joysticks. I see amigainput/generic_usb.driver on the disk, but AmigaInput Prefs makes no attempt to load it (I checked with SnoopDOS ) so it doesn't appear on the list.

Anyway, good work. Nice and fast, and I especially like the new configuration options for P96 screenmodes (never got on with P96Mode - perhaps it could be shifted into Tools now?).

Chris

Can't down load with Dial up, because my Stupid ISP cuts me off after 2 hours.....

Don't blame your ISP, it appears the Hyperion server dumps all connections every 2 hours, and will not resume once disconnected.
It appears a new "pipe/code" is initiated. .

I am on 56K digital link and am dumped just before completion.

Roll on split downloads.

Cheers,
Tim

P.S. For when I DO get it thanks to all involved.

Any news on the updated SDK? what version of gcc, any updates to clib2, new docs, etc?

New SDK is quite high up on the priority list. It will contain gcc 4.0.2 or whatever is out then.

Nice one, now all I need is some hardware and I will join the OS4 ranks.

I suppose I should ask, when is OS4 full out?

Any chance you'll be able to get it installed in time to show off at the AmiCUE meeting tomorrow?

I'm up and running on the drive I use for testing, so should be a go for tomorrow night. I'll be using my hard drives in PIO 4 mode until I'm sure my system is stable enough to try UDMA.

Still have to try out AmigaAMP, DvPlayer and my old apps.

A: When the hardware is out!

I noticed that too. It looks like "cleartype" in windows. Very nice on my TFT!
