This is really great news! A BIG thanks to everyone at Hyperion for making this release. I'm in the process of doing a fresh installation.

Can't wait to see how it runs..

I have it installed. It sure does breathe new life into those 68k applications. IBrowse and ImageFX are very fast now.

Thank you all for all of your hard work. It's a beauty!

Thanks Rogue. I'm on dial-up also and the split version sure helps.

New SDK is quite high up on the priority list. It will contain gcc 4.0.2 or whatever is out then.

Nice, thanks!

Seems i forgot to press on send as i dont see my post.
Voodoo sent me a message today that os4 is out so i had a nightmear having to wait to 23.00 to stop working. Come home 23.30 downloaded the iso and took a shower. Installed it on blank partition and then copied over with all files from my backup (ofcourse with skip for the files that are there already).
Replacing all the icons with my old ones did take alot of time.

HDrec feels litte faster as i can play the lowquality music. The highquality music needs more cpu or i did something wrong. Maybe anyone can confirm.
Now hdrec only shows 0% and 100% for cpumeter. Nothing inbetween ?

Warp3d works nice. Tested amigbgdemo and soms and some other stuff :)

More to test. damnit the clock... its 04:52... i have to go to sleep :)

EDIT: The usb driver from Lyla does work. Stupid me forgot to start USBCtrl

Gratulations to all AmigaOS4 users! Very nice! I wish OS4 a bright future and would like to be using it now on my PegasosII hardware.

OS4 seems to be such nice OS and I bet it would get a lot more publicity if released on PegasosII. I really deserves that.

Thanks again,...

Michal

What I'm really anxious to see is if the Pagestream OS4 beta will now run on my A1. I'm one of the unlucky few who can't get it going at all.

I'm happy: I can now run the PPC Pagestream 5 beta thanks to update 4!

I would be happy if I could preorder OS4 on Classic and get the prerelease now, rather than waiting until it's done.

Great work!

Just doing some testing, as I made the fresh installation just a few minutes ago
(needless to say it went flawlessy! ).

Printing with lpr.device now works for me (before it breaks with a memory allocation
failure printing graphics), very nice... screen dragging is even nicer

JIT-driven applications fly... a really fast system on a 800MHz machine

One not-so-good thing I recognized now (and earlier): Picasso96 still isn't able to compute
correct VESA-compliant frequency values :( It should give 63.981 kHz for a 1280x1024 mode, but gives
something about 64kHz. This causes adjusting troubles with most TFTs. Is it possible to
change this behaviour until final release or maybe with a small interim update?

Would be a nice little candy for me, as I use a KVM switch for my machines

Now doing some more testing (with a big grin on my face)

greetz

My Radeon 9800 Pro works better with my KVM with Update #4 than it did with #3. With #3 the sync rate was different to that used by Windows driver on my PC, so I had to either put up with a screen that was offset (so I couldn't see the title bar) or press the "auto" button on my TFT monitor every time I switched screens (incidentally, the KVM I have is just awesome, zero image degradation, and it was pretty cheap too - it's a Linksys of all things! - it's the two-port model that has the cables built into the box, sortof U-shaped)

"Also USB driver from Lyle seems to not work with the upd4."

I just got loaded up this morning, not much time before
going off to work. Please look into USB Inspector and see if
your interface is even there.
I have two USB MIDI interfaces connected to my Micro. After
installing, one is working fine and the other has "disappeared".

I had a report of the same problem from another USB MIDI user
a few weeks back.

If I power down the missing interface, then turn it back on, I
get a blank USB device attached window, with the message
"Attachment Failed". This is on a Micro-AOne, so I don't suspect
a hardware problem.

If we are having the same problem, you won't even see your
interface in the USB inspector.

I've just barely begun to use Update 4.. The scroll wheel is nice,
but it doesn't seem to work with AWeb.. Oh well.
I LOVE the new method for creating screenmodes. I never could get
my wide monitor mode exactly right.
Looks like a great update. I hope we can figure something out with
the missing USB devices..

Big Thanks to the Guys at Hyperion, and the whole developers team.

LyleHaze

OK, I have a small bug report...

I set the UBoot variable that allows the PrtScn/SysRq key to be used instead of ScrLk for the "Help" key, because I have one of those KVMs that use a double-tap on ScrLk to switch displays. Works great, no problems.

Until I tried to use the Exchange commodity. The hotkey for that defaults to Ctrl+Alt+Help. Guess what, on PC keyboards, for $DEITY knows what reason, if you press PrtScn on its own you get one scancode, and if you press Alt+PrtScn you get a different scancode (one yields 0x54, the other 0x37 IIRC). So since I guess the PC keyboard driver guy didn't know this bit of arcane lore, ctrl+alt+PrtScn doesn't pop up the Exchange commodity, because the event that Intuition is seeing is not [ctrl]+[alt]+[PrtScn], but [ctrl]+[AltPrtScn].

Since the keyboard driver is the software layer that is stuck with making something sensible out of the oddball behaviour of the hardware, I'm calling this one a bug... (should be a realtively easy fix, depending on how the keyboard driver's state machine was put together).
