| Thank you very much the whole AOS4 team !!!
Noone noticed yet that you can enable non blocking menus in gui prefs. So menus won't block screen refreshing anymore. I think that was one of the most wanted features.
I hope we can have IBrowse2.4 quickly because many time it (IB2.3) crashes it destroys my hd partition. I'm tired of salvaging and copying back everything on that partition quite often. (Well now I have one partition for web browsers only.) I hope that in future OS itself will protect hd writings from crashing applications somehow. (I'm using FFS with long filenames.)
Is that new memory system in up4 and what about memory protection ? Last edited by Tomppeli on 11-Feb-2006 at 03:32 AM.

I *demand* that you use an unimportant partition for web caches (or Ram Disk:) if you want to avoid revalidations.
The new memory system is not integrated and the memory protection scheme is the same as before AFAIK (some things are protected but not all because it's impossible). |

Done that and disabled those caches already many months ago ! (And like I said I have now a separate partition for web browsers only !) And revalidation process is not a problem because disk-validator does its job. But many times when something crashes it will destroy root dir. And disk validator can't fix that. And ofcourse web browsers are not the only buggy software. _________________ Rock lobster bit me. My Workbench has always preferences. X1000 + AmigaOS4.1 FE "Anyone can build a fast CPU. | You could just switch to SFS, which is awesome compared to FFS.
I recently switched to SFS from PFS, which is similar but no-longer developed. I haven't used FFS for 5-10 years, and have never looked back! There is no down side.
In fact, I can't even remember what a Disk Validation is like! And I'm pretty certain that I've never had a partition trashed by a crash. Last edited by ChrisH on 12-Feb-2006 at 09:50 AM.
