| What's a sound map? Anyway, I'll ask Martin, since I only port the emu10kx driver. But I heard the line-in problem before. You are using an SB Live or Audigy2? Last edited by DaveAE on 20-Sep-2005 at 10:01 AM.

I use a Soundblaster audigy z2. The LineIn functions only with the version 5.16 of the emu10kx.audio of driver. All other versions 6.1,6.2 do not run any longer. |

| Ok. Martin probably changed something. He can't test it since he doesn't have an Audigy2. I'll see what the changes are. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

I'll see what I can do, ok? Since it worked before, I'm sure we'll find out, either me or Martin.Last edited by DaveAE on 20-Sep-2005 at 11:59 AM.

| Hi DaveAE
I don't want to put too much work on you, but could you see if you can find time to work on an updated Envy24TH driver for the TerraTec Aureon cards, so that both CD/AUX and Digital In will work as supposed to? |

This is much better for me. I used to get lockups after about 25 minutes. It's been playing for 90 minutes with the new driver, so far so good. Last edited by DoodooHead on 20-Sep-2005 at 01:47 PM.

| @Helgis Well, for me it's a matter of priorities. It's either spending time on eXtream or on a digital in that you don't use. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

The GUI is auto-generated according to the soundcard. Adding an optional checkbox option is possible, but makes it complicated (layout etc.). Anyway, it should always be on IMHO.

I just saw that in Mixer 1.15 the Mic boost is incorporated as a volume slider. This is good enough for me. I gather the boost is always ON and then you use the slider or mute if you don't want any boost?! Thanks!
Do contact Stefan, he's a really knowledgable guy in both the hardware and software side. I'm sure he could also let you have a beta version of IBrowse to test as it's one of the applications causing the most problems.
Best of luck to you!
Btw I'm going to do that test with dropped/delayed IRQ's as soon as I get some time. And yes, I have a µA1-C!Last edited by Samwel on 21-Sep-2005 at 12:36 AM. Last edited by Samwel on 21-Sep-2005 at 12:30 AM. Last edited by Samwel on 20-Sep-2005 at 11:23 PM.

Not really, the CMI is a weird chip. The boost is only for monitoring and the slider is only for the recording gain. The recording gain doesn't affect the monitoring level. It's completely counter-intuitive.Last edited by DaveAE on 21-Sep-2005 at 08:32 AM.

What interrupt timer was set to 1kHz and why, as it could work just as well at 80Hz?? Why 80Hz? Could it be set to 1Hz to minimized possible instabilities even further?

| Ok, when the programmer doesn't change the PlayerFreq, AHI uses (mix) buffer sizes that can hold 1/50th of a second of data. So, every 1/50th of a second, the audio needs to be mixed. Therefore you need at least IRQ's 50 times a second. Some programs change the PlayerFreq during playback (usually mod players), so by setting a 1000 Hz timer, it can deal with large modifications in the PlayerFreq. The interrupt service routine checks if it needs to start mixing a new buffer or not. All my drivers trigger an interrupt when a new buffer is being played by the soundcard, which results in 50 IRQ's a second if PlayerFreq was 50Hz. My drivers don't deal with changing PlayerFreq's during playback, although they can handle different PlayerFreq's (= buffer sizes) when they are set before playback. Note that most audio chips don't have an extra timer onboard.
I set it to 50 Hz initially, but that caused some weird noises. Martin also told me that that was probably not gonna work. So I tried 80 and that worked so I stuck with it.
You could theoratically set the PlayerFreq to 1 Hz, but volume and panning changes (and parameters for real-time effects in AE4 for instance), would only be done once a second. That would make smooth fades impossible for example.
Hope this helps. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com

The LineIn works fine here. You just don't hear it when it's recording. Can you confirm this and confirm that you do hear something in 5.16 while recording?Last edited by DaveAE on 21-Sep-2005 at 05:22 PM.

We had that issue with the AROS AHI Driver for the hosted/Linux version, too. It's because of how AHI works internally. With 100 Hz it works, but there's still the thing that you need bigger buffers then you would with higher rates. There may be unlimited cpu power. It will not help (high level interface using double buffering) you will still get underruns. Despite double buffering and buffer being in theory big enough.IIRC AHI gets into a situation where replying of requests goes like this:
[reply] [reply] [reply] [] [reply reply] [reply] [reply][][reply reply]...
Instead of

With 5.16 I can hear the LineIn and AudioCd. With all other versions that does not function any longer. I test the LineIn with AmithlonTV and CDPLAY for audio. I am surprised that that still nobody was noticeable. Or do I have only a Soundblaster Audigy z2? Last edited by BlackNinja on 21-Sep-2005 at 10:05 PM.
