| Marcik changed his mind and decided not to release the sources and Sputnik as a free software. He will make final decision when he finish the project but I and others consider this as a good way to ensure further Sputnik development. |

| There is no way to provide link to web page if information is obtained in live conversation Is it too hard to accept news if you don’t like them? Do you prefer not to know? |

| News, what news, i don't see no news...you just stating something, without providing backup, that's nothing to do with news, btw IF this is live conversation why do you post it here anyway?
Does @Marcic know? Are you his PR guy?
As long as i don't hear anything from the one actually coding this i won't bother with it any longer
btw: One thing you DID with posting this here is, that many non-MOS users won't spare a dime on the bounty anymore ... great work |

As long as it's still KHTML based, I'm afraid he's not got much choice but to release it under the same license as KHTML, which is LGPL.
Also, accepting donations and not releasing it as free software would amount to thefth, in my book. _________________ “It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” ~~ Henry Ford

| "live conversation" is not equal to "private live conversation". Marcik don't make secret of new way of providing Sputnik. Is it to difficult for you to pay for the software? Don't you want Sputnik to improve? You don't have to believe me. Maybe you believe when you spend your money on Marcik's software. |

That would imply that i'm a MOS user which i ain't. As long as Marcik writes MOS-only soft i wouldn't pay a dime (btw it's still freedom of choice in MY country, so i'd be open to use IBrowse for MOS, if i'd care)
I don't ever tried MOS and won't ever either...talking about taste again
edit: Of course, i donate to him, as soon as the KHTML source(port) is accessable by the AWeb maintainers |

| He might as well release the KHTML part, and charge for the the bsd one, which seems to be reasonable and logic... I for once don't see what is wrong with it.

Don't know what "logic" has got to do with that, or even "reasonability", but, if you would pay attention to what you read, I've only talked about KTHML. He may do whatever he wishes with the rest of his code as long as the modifications to KTHML and KJS are released.

Let's see, what about people who donated money already? He's made a contract with them, people have contracted him to work on his browser under the condition that he'd release the sources once he's done. He can't unilaterally change the conditions of the contract. At the very least, he's got to refund everyone who's paid for the browser already and doesn't agree with the new conditions. Of course, since paypal will take some money for every transaction, he's also got to pay the difference by himself.

I was just infering from what was said he said, when crossing with actual facts, that's where logic and reasonability came to play...

Well I found this quite a derrogatory sentence, namely when one doesn't know what's happening behind the scenes and taking as granted what someone had presented as truth...

For what he had said, he also had invisioned that... as for the contract.
1) which contract 2) how many legal actions did you took against those who hadn't be able to finished AROS bounties... 3) he might as well get an agreement to give away the browser to those who had contributed 4) refunding is a non issue, since he would probably get more money directly selling it then he could through bounties, and if it doesn't cover the paypal, I wonder why would he even consider it
Still for your links, I run firefox, and one of them for example links to: http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/LICENSE-APPLE, which doesn't quite seem the place for them to be, and AW server quite agree with me on this _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. No, that would imply that finally some hardware for AOS4 would be available so Marcik can buy it and use it to make Sputnik for AOS4. |

English isn't your main language, so I excuse you for not understanding what I wrote. And, although I'm quite certain that my sentence was semantically correct, it may very well be that, since English isn't my 1st language either, I've not been able to express myself correctly.
In any event, there's been a misunderstanding on your part: I haven't claimed he's a thief, I've just claimed that anyone accepting donation for an originally thought-to-be open source project and then releasing it as a closed source one, would commit something that, in my opinion, would be equivalent to theft.
Perhaps by making the sentence 4 times longer I've managed to make the concept pass through, this time?

The one he has made with his contractors, of course. In every EU country I know of, you don't need to sign a contract, in order for it to be valid: it's enough that two parties agree about it.
Quote:
2) how many legal actions did you took against those who hadn't be able to finished AROS bounties...

None, since the money has not been stolen.
I'm beginning to wonder whether you're doing it on purpose... Putting words into my mouth, I mean.
Quote:

Should I really, really send you back to my previous comment, where I explicitely stated "and doesn't agree with the new conditions"?
Oh, wait, I just did.
Quote:
4) refunding is a non issue, since he would probably get more money directly selling it
|
That's irrelevant, I was just talking about the legally (and morally) binding aspects of the situation, nothing else.

Ok, I see, they are relative, that's why. I will fix that, thanks.Last edited by falemagn on 27-Jul-2006 at 10:28 PM.

Again, i don't care about "sputnik", i HAVE a working, reliable and good browser, the only thing i need, would be a new engine for that browser and that will be KHTML |

| @Raziel : It might be a shock to you then that KHTML part is almost untouched, probably meaning that the Marcik KHTML port won't be of much help to AWEB, or at least much more then it is in its present form. _________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. The Illusion of Choice | Am*ga

Then you would agree that bounties are a good way of thieving were both parts agree, a bit of thievery corporation...
