Software News   Software News : DvPlayer DVD plugin
posted by afxgroup on 12-Sep-2006 15:43:09 (10209 reads)
This is a DvPlayer DVD plugin based on libdvdcss present in MPlayer

Copy the file dvdvcd.plugin into your DvPlayer/dvplugins directory. This
replaces the original dvdvcd.plugin which comes with DvPlayer, so you might
want to make a backup of the original.

You should see the Crypted DVD with DVPlayer.

The plugin is available here

Enjoy

@Cobra

Sent you a crashlog in PM

-Edit-

Wow went straight for revenege of the sith DVD too.

OH my god how clear is the picture. So much better than watching via a scart lead to the TV. Uses about 94% CPU here in windowed mode.

Many thanks to all those invloved... I've even discoved a dancing yoda that i didn't know was on the DVD

This is great works perfect on my 800mhz G3 , unlike Mplayer which is a bit
on the slow side. Also the volume boost option makes the sound audible unlike
mplayer.

Actually is there a volume boost option on Mplayer, this always annoyed with the
Linux version, swapped to using Xine instead which also supports the menu
system very nicely.

Well done to all involved , BTW Revenge of the Sith is happily playing away
in the background.

This is great. DVPlayer its superb. Plays really smooth on my mA1 FX750/800MHz.
I watch an live video of Placebo, which means fast screen updates while
I'm writting this and talking to IRC.

Keep up the good work guys! You are really great.

Just tried it out and it worked perfectly.

DVPlayer is already one of the applications I use the most on OS4 and this can only help!

Thanks for all your hard work COBRA and afxgroup!

@clooned:

Please download the latest version (if you are using the demo), and use the menu's Open DVD/VCD item instead of trying to open the files!

Yes it's a great step forward. Great work.

But i have to ask (i don't want to flame. just curious). Is it because it (the plugin) is unoptimized, os 4 lacking overlay suport, the hardware that it is so CPU hungry ?
Maybe a combination ?

Afxgroup & Cobra united : the AOS4 Dream Team

I tryed the plugin with several DVDs.
Some worked just fine (80's Excalibur, LOTR : The Two Towers)
But I've one that makes some artefacts (here is a grab). It's 12 Monkeys.
The menus video played well, but not the movie itself.

Anyway, great work afxgroup.

I can't wait to have DVD sub-tittle support (prior to DVD menu support IMHO, but how says menus, says sub tittles )

So true. I hope more coders will unite in the future.
We are reaching the point where one man can't do everything. Let's work together.
