Fantastic!!! Works a treat. I'll carry on trying it out.
Thanks for the very quick response.
Looks like the end of 4.16 for me. _________________ Peter Swallow. A1XEG3-800 [IBM 750FX PowerPC], running OS4.1FE, using ac97 onboard sound.

No idea why it works, as far as I can tell it's in the AREXX part of the code. Good that it does though. _________________ Common sense - So rare it's almost like a super power

| I have uploaded a new fixed version to AmiNet. It fixes one nasty crash bug that could happen if you deleted deep nested dirs. Also fixes the "PrintDir" command. It should appear on AmiNet recent as soon as someone approves it. _________________ Common sense - So rare it's almost like a super power

Hmm... I tried DOpus years ago and found it much too involved for me. I've been using DiskMaster 2 all these years. I think DM2 may have reached an end of development. I don't really know. I never hear anything about it any longer. |
I am surprised that you found DOpus a more complicated beast to use. From their base installs, DM2 and DOpus4 are very similar, but IMO, DOpus4 is a much more powerful and configurable tool. |
That is most likely hitting the nail on the head. I am a meat and potatoes man who likes simple ways. If a less powerful program does what I want I will favor it over others. I really don't need hundreds of choices to do one thing.

It is nice however to see work still being made on the public sources for DOpus4, so that OS4 users can still benefit from this great application. |
Yes, I am glad to see it being worked on also. Darn, I forgot to grab this new version to check it out. I just might be converted, who knows.

One of my many slaves, shhh. Actually, I gave up shoelaces in the early 1960s when I left the military. Before and after I always wore boots.

Yes, my friend, I plan on doing so. I've got so many irons in the fire right now that I forgot about getting it.

It's really old and yet windoze explorer comes nowhere near it for usefulness.
After all this time, I'm quite surprised.
If I used windoze at home, I would definitely try the version of DOpus for that. |
Oh you are going to hate this. Beside my AmigaOne, I do have a Gates Crate with DOpus installed. I didn't like the Windoze version either. _________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Got it and it is looking good so far, nice work!
@ _Steve_ and TiredofLife
Ok, I've installed the new version. I'll be using it to see if I can pinpoint just what it was that I did not like. Maybe it was just that I was too comfortable with DM2 and did not want to learn the ways of a new program. At my age one tends to get set in their ways. My avatar photo is only 10 months old, but I am closer to 70 than I am to 60. Sigh...

If my memory serves me right (It often doesn't so take this as gospel) there are ready made configs available. I think they were on Aminet.
They usually linked to the most popular programs, so they might be able to save you a bit of effort.
What version did you have on windoze? Never seen it myself but am curious.
Considering how popular it is on the miggy and how many miggy owners bought windoze machines, I'm suprised it's relatively unknown. _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down.

I've been using DOpus since about '97 and only use it for a few functions but couldn't be without it.

I have Directory Opus v8.2.0.2 U Nov 22, 2005
Gee, almost three years. I should say that I have used it. I just do not use Windoze that much.

Use windoze in work but that's about it since I got AOS4 classic.
Was using windoze at for home for the odd time I needed to use see or modify something produced using MS Office or to watch the odd youtube video.
But OS4 is there is Pointrider for Powerpoint, Mplayer for youtube and the Cynix software for Word and Excel sheets.
Youtube clips can often be a bit much for my classic setup, so I tend to convert clips to mpg using ffmpeg. (Only takes a few mins)
Cygnix is also a tad on the sluggish side.
Trusting my dodgy memory (again), you have an A1 so no worries there for you. _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down.

I noticed a few issues with this vesion:
The search function doesn't work anymore in the text viewer. neither the buttons at the bottom nor the 's' or 'n' keys.
The Protect and Comment functions set protection bits and file comments recursively when applied to directories! This created some havoc for me as it destroyed some file comments on files in a diretory. The shell commands protect and comment does not do this. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

"Works on my machine" (tm)... It might be something I've worked on lately though. I'll show up on IRC and send you a copy.

This is not something I have changed, DOpus has always done this. I have been meaning to change to to behave like DOS, just haven't got around to actually do it yet. _________________ Common sense - So rare it's almost like a super power

No, it has probably always been there, but I noticed it and think it is wrong. It should only go recursive with a specific flag or something I think. _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

| Have a strange bug with Opus.
If I have it minimised and then drag and drop a file from one folder to another on my desktop, the mouse often freezes for a second and the file is no longer held by the mouse pointer.
This is with 4.1 for Sam. _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down.
