not so much... while it's highly exagerated.
But MorphOS is now so much ahead of any other AmigaOS.... just by features and supported stuff.

@Fab

Sorry for the OT but just for curious I downloaded the MorphOS 2.3 archive and I found OWB release 1.4 with NPAPI support already availible, so my question is how about sending all your modification to the Sand-Labs SVN ?

@SoundSquare

This is not completely true, OS4 is ahead on other things, 64 bit DOS, virtual memory support, AmiDock etc ...

Fors sure speaking about GUI itself MorphOS is surely far ahead.

Does MorphOS 2.3 support virtual memory or partitions bigger than 128 GB?

Congratulations for nice update.

If OS 4.1 works on Peg II, there would be a nice thing
to have MOS for A1/Micro A1 and SAM EP440 and end
the pointless MOS/OS 4.1 war once for all.

Also, SAM is only avail board beside Efika, so there
would be a good reason to do so.

Why would a A1/SAM user buy and Install MOS?

a) Its fast
b) There are a lot of MOS applications and games, some
of them unavail for OS 4.1 (Voyger, Feeble Flies ...)
c) You CAN play Hyperion games
d) Its also Amiga spirit
e) No, it would not kill OS 4.1

@samo79

MorphOS has 64bit DOS. I have never used AmiDock but there are screen bar plugins (eject, memory, clock, volume etc) providing functionality Ambient panels are lacking.

@pavlor

FFS might support partitions larger than 128GB, not sure. SFS definitely does not due to an internal design limit.

@vox

Efika is not available anymore.. Efika 2 will not be PPC based.

But I agree, MorphOS on Sam would be nice. Personally I think MorphOS onMacMini would be nicer, but that's probably because I've got one of those!

@Samo79

I haven't committed anything to OWB SVN (except the download code that was committed by Stanislaw (AROS OWB port)), because it's just too much work, and additionally i can change some design stuff in OWB at will, without their consentment. :)

Anyway, the OWB OS4 port is supposed to get a shared object implementation, according to joerg. And what defines the plugin support in my OWB port is:
- the library calls to retrieve the npapi function pointers (for a .so based system, it would be useless).
- the mui methods that can be called from the plugin to render, get input events & co (also totally useless for a reaction based port).

The remaining logic mostly lives in the plugin itself, and its NPAPI usage.

@Vox

You did a poor job on convincing me, you missed all key advantages MorphOS has, If you worked for me as salesman you kicked out of my company in second.

a) Its fast

OS4.1 is fast as well.

b) There are a lot of MOS applications and games, some
of them unavail for OS 4.1 (Voyger, Feeble Flies …)

Voyger works perfectly fin on AmigaOS4.1 is outdated and no one uses it anymore, OWB is faster better, even Ibrowse2.4 is getting outdated compared to OWB.

MorphOS has maybe one or two games that does not run on OS4, it does not make big difference to me, I have PC to play games.

c) You CAN play Hyperion games

You can already play Hyperion games on OS4.
(Freespace,Quake 1/2/3, Heretic II, even the shogo works)

d) Its also Amiga spirit

So what, already have a operating system

e) No, it would not kill OS 4.1

No it would not kill AmigaOS4.1 or 4.2.

Soon we will be back to my …. is bigger then yours, and this was one time way Amigaworld was created, and then Amigans was created in the same spirit to day some years latter, I'm not against MorphOS nor there supporters I'm happy that a version is out, but don't make this a ####.ing contest.

@Fab

In my opinion open sourced code must be always shared, expecially if it is taked from an SVN of a complex project like OWB, this obviously is indipendent of what can be usefull for us right now or for a perpective of the actual OS4 users ...
One day one can take your MUI code from the official SVN and begin easily a new fork for OS4/OS3 and maybe also for MorphOS and AROS :-O

IMHO your source can be usefull for all the Amiga community

@samo79

Sure, it's opensource, and anyone can request it. But I also don't want to commit it to SVN (just too boring and potentially too much work later).

This is bad form. ALL sources should be available, even a link to download. No question about it.

says it all.

@asymetrix

What's your point exactly?

First it's BSD license, not GPL. Then source is available on request. And last, i don't make *any* money from it, just FYI.

The addition of HFS+ read support is clearly good if it's going to run on macs.

I think the key her is: still available to the public at large under the original BSD license. So actually no one is taking anything from anyone, just look at Apple, don't you think it presents value to FreeBSD having been chose by Apple, even if they didn't share the code back (which isn't the case either)...
