is it possible to enable UDMA for the HDD when loading the kicklayout-modules to speed boot up a lot? _________________ I´m back in 2023 on Classic Amiga with my A1200/Blizzard1230IB@50Mhz, 32MB RAM, AmigaOS3.2 and ROMs, Indivision AGA MK3, Author of Amiga-Flipclock (OS4)

| Just because of the recent benchmarks...
RAGEMEM v0.37 - compiled 11/06/2010
CPU: AMCC PPC440EP 1.3 @ 666 Mhz Caches Sizes: L1: 32 KB - L2: none - L3: none Cache Line: 32
MAX MIPS: 1142
L1 READ32: 2466 MB/Sec READ64: 4373 MB/Sec WRITE32: 2475 MB/Sec WRITE64: 4386 MB/Sec
RAM READ32: 259 MB/Sec READ64: 277 MB/Sec WRITE32: 201 MB/Sec WRITE64: 201 MB/Sec WRITE: 878 MB/Sec (Tricky)

Copying AKsack.wav to RAM: (via DOS) happens under 2s (counting seconds in my head). How could I time the copying more accurately?
UPDATE: uptime copy... uptime -script shows that copying happens below 2s need more details ... want to beat those PowerMacs ... Last edited by KimmoK on 08-Feb-2012 at 11:21 AM. Last edited by KimmoK on 08-Feb-2012 at 10:56 AM. Last edited by KimmoK on 08-Feb-2012 at 10:42 AM.

You may try with this tool:
http://www.os4depot.net/share/development/edit/kickedit.lha
Just copy the current kicklayout with the "Clone" button in the Kicklayout box (to have a safe configuration to boot from in case something go wrong) and remove the unused modules. On a standard Sam440ep without any additional PCI card you can remove the following from the kicklayout:
3dfxVoodoo.chip it8212ide.device.kmod lsi53c8xx.device.kmod sii0680ide.device.kmod sii3112ide.device.kmod sii3512ide.device.kmod siliconmotion502.chip uhci.usbhcd _________________ Massimiliano Tretene, ACube Systems, Soft3

To enable UDMA in U-Boot, the rewrite of the 3114 driver is needed (it's not a trival change) and I lack the time for this... _________________ Massimiliano Tretene, ACube Systems, Soft3

| I'm quite sure M3X said he lacked time (not money) for doing UDMA for UBoot. _________________

When there's some money to be made, it would be easier to find time. (at least it's true for me) _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer?
