@AmigaKit Always nice to see new software congrats! |
The main credit rightly should go to Andy who suffered my barrage of emails and ideas to him for nearly 6 months! He produced a wonderful application and we are so pleased with the outcome. It is amazing that since 1994, this is type of application has not had significant development so we very much hope that Andy's great work is well received by Amigans and serves as an indispensable tool for many years to come. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS

improvements can only come from updating amigaguide.library and amigaguide.datatype |
Or even better - from developing an ebook datatype masterclass of which AmigaGuide will be a subclass. _________________ The Rear Window blog

Amigaguide.library is still a very unppreciated tool in Amiga OS to make dynamic help for Amiga programs. |

| Yes, I'd say it's a nice mix between two excellent softwares already available : DirMeUp and FastView.
It's great to see new programs but it's not the one I'm waiiting for since it only reinvents the wheel (sorry to be kinda direct on this topic) whereas we are waiting for other tools not yet available. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz

I just tried the DirMeUp demo to see what you meant and they aren't remotely similar in usage or function, in fact you would use MultiViewer *from* DirMeUp as the configurable file viewer. Or possibly better the examplae script MultiViewer:Rexx/NewTab.rexx _________________ BroadBlues On Blues BroadBlues On Amiga Walker Broad

| On the subject of datatypes, any development proposed on AmigaGuide would be wholeheartedly better spent on a HTML datatype - or is that just pointing out the obvious?
Clearly AmigaGuide has had its day and the current implementation is still fit for purpose. _________________

| Would it be feasible to build an html datatype upon webkit/owb engine? Just asking... _________________ Proud Amigan since 1987 Owner of various Commodore and a SAM440ep\OS4.1FE See them on http://retro.furinkan.org/

| I was wondering if DataTypes for Ghostscript, Postscript and PDF would be feasable and usable with MultiViewer in a way we could then drop AmiGS/AmiPDF? |

I'm afraid this would entail implementing an entire browser within the datatypes framework. _________________ The Rear Window blog

Search Aminet. There were already postscript.datatypes, hypertext superclass datatypes (with Guide as a subclass), html.datatypes etc. In principle all those could be modernized and updated ... but who should do that? _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000
