I totally agree with you. This thing is barely faster than a Classic Amiga with a 10 year old CyberstormPPC board.

I'm not going to buy this one. Maybe the high-end model will suit my needs better (If it ever shows up).

Kind regards,

Dennis

Oh HELL no. I'm buying one as soon as it's available. The way things are going, we might not get another chance.

What a joke !!!
And some are laughing at the Efika......

Seriously, one more time I am very disapointed with this anouncement, even if i wanted to believe it would be something 'ala' Sam440.

This 'computer' should cost 300$ complete (motherboard, ram, hdd, cdrom, case, power supply) add it 100$ for OS4 if you like.

Unfortunately they are all killing chances we have been built for years ...

Even if hardware is out, who will maintain the OS with such conflicts. Amiga Inc has no technical knowledge about OS4 and no idea about the community.

@afxgroup

We can do that, but what are our alternatives ?

The SAM440EP, without OS4 licence ? Even if Hyperion wins the lawsuit, it is questionable if the Roque brothers will OS4 develop to the next revision.

@Nibunnoichi

Atmel ATC2408A serial EEPROM (1kb of non-volatile storage)
Used to keep data that remains even after the computer is switched off. Since it's only 1KB, I imagine it will be used for configuration data (eg UBoot variables)

Dallas DS1339 RTC with battery holder.
This is the chip that keeps track of date and time. It's got a battery so it can keep accurate time even when the computer is switched off.

Around £245 for an entry-level, fully equipped Amiga system? Not a bad price at all, assuming they go for a straight US-UK exchange.

They won't do that, of course, no North American company ever does.

But even assuming a straight £1=$2 exchange once you add on VAT, trans-atlantic shipping (whole systems, remember, not just motherboards) and dealer mark-up I expect the final price would be in the £350-400 range at best.

Erm, how can this be a complete system when there is no mention of things like memory, Hard drive, keyboard, etc? It doesn't even mention what case it comes with. What kind of optical drive will purchasers be using to install Hyperio...er...AmigaOS 4?

How can you get excited when it could come with 64MB of RAM, a 4.3Gig HDD a 2xCD-ROM and a refurbished Voodoo for all you know?

Wow, you learnt to use Photoshop, Well Done. [edited (I didn't see the picture) -T_Bone]

----------------------------------------------------------------

Btw, I will probably end up buying this... I dont care about the politics... Might be the last hardware that runs any sort of Amiga OS ever...!

Amiga Inc are you happy now?

sorry for amiga, but this time I'm thinking about that too.

If was looking forward for os4 on sam.
I'm not shure anymore if I would buy an amigainc/ack board as an
alternative. Not after this lawsuit thing.

@Nicolas... no bleedin Euros, but we have to pay bloody VAT, import tax etc... so sub-£300 is rather unlikely lol (Dont forget US prices seldom include sales tax etc.)

"They won't do that, of course, no North American company ever does."

With all due respect neither do Europeans.

Amikit sells their #### below the MSRP (merchandise suggested retail price). eg Catweasel MK4. Amikit - are you reading it? GOOD!!!
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=206&osCsid=86cc2bc7f5bec380284ed4e31522a9dc
$110.
this kills amiga dealers here. It's called product "dumping" and it's illegal. Mind from consumer endpoint you pay $20 shipping, duties/taxes by the time it gets to your door.

Thats far below the market/cost price (after it gets here to USA/Canada) over the big pond. So don't whine that you have to pay 100-200 Pounds or Euros extra, because we do here too for your stuff!
Besides, you can always order from a dealer in North America and hope you pay less for shipping.
