AmigaOS 4.1 development has pushed forward in a lot of areas lately, so it is time to share some of those with you, and show you just where the current beta snapshot is.

I have uploaded some screenshots here to have a look at.

Looks nice, but I'm not a fan of huge blurry icons (either). Let WB scale them like in Ambient. Should be easy since icon.library already supports it.

The drop shadows look really nice, but what about the performance? Any noticable effect, or is it all taken care of by the gfx card?

And the big question: Will we finally have task based memory protection with MEMF_PRIVATE (or some new flag), or is it all just eyecandy?

It looks in those pictures Workbench is still the same as the current public version 53.1. (Or maybe different beta testers tests different things and everybody don't have same setup.)

It looks great.

And this part is interesting. In the last screenshot, the OS4Kernel window,
down to the right, it says:

@Teddy

That's the same text as in the latest public version of OS4.1. Even the version numbers are the same...

Not sure what your point is?

Yes, I'm aware of that. Well at least, I became aware of it the moment I clicked the post comment button.

Never mind, I just giggle every time I see it.

For some reason I find it funny in a good way, and I do really hope that sometime, in the near future, all that legal mambo jumbo will be over, that's all.

P.S. And that is what happens when you overwork yourself and try to do several things at the same time.

nice shots can't wait to have that update with that gorgeous icons!
Great job Mason!

But as a small note I think it would be nicer if the drawers would open a little bit more. :)

Looks good. I hope you offer the icon set in smaller resolutions.

And please add an "open next/previews drawer in the same window" with a browse-back button please

YES! Looks HOT. But i agree...icons are way too big. Also, I think the gadget slider thingies are too big and blocky

I wonder why they haven't implemented a remove-scroll bars-when-not-needed, in windows? Just a waste of space. :P

You can turn it of under prefs/workbench.

It would be great if amidock and menus (context/titlebar) could benefit of new stuff like this one (the shadow).

Amiga OS4.x is becoming very nice looking. I think we're waiting for the hardware to catch up so you can use all the fun stuff without performance problems.

@SoundSquare

Dont know about you, but my workbench is efficient.

Unless you were reffering to more drivers, etc, then yeah, I would tend to agree on that one.
