If 95% of them work on WinUAE with JIT, then fine. It is just much much easier for Petuna or Trance because OS friendly code is JIT friendly. This is not case with most games and demos. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook

Well , if code will be free, if it will just need to "just recompile euae for morphos", then yeah, that imho enough as well. |
Code will be GPL'ed as UAE and therefore available for LinuxPPC, MOS and macos developers. If it's only a recompile that's needed is not for me to worry about as long as it works on AmigaOS. I would be fine with the JIT UAE ported to the above mentioned systems but I don't know if Rachy has any interest in doing anything apart from the AmigaOS version.Last edited by Troels on 19-Feb-2011 at 11:34 PM.

| Open-Source is good enough for me as a MorphOS user. Even if a MorphOS port would have to take another bounty on MorphZone ... this developer is going to do all the hard work if I understand it well.
So yes I donated and will donate again. _________________ - Proud Member Of The Belgian Amigaclub Since 2003 -

| @Aminicle Thanks for the donation (I also read your comment on the project page) nice to see someone from the blue side contributing, I hope more will follow I am no developer so I don't know for sure how big a challenge it will be to get it ported to MOS once it's finished but I don't see why it should be that difficult.
Anyway, first we need some more donations, a working AmigaOS version and then hopefully someone will make the MorphOS port a reality. _________________

| Hi there... ;)
At first: I am glad to accept this not-so-easy project. Some folks in the Amiga community pursued me for years to do it and as it seems nobody is willing to do the development, so I decided to take it finally.
However, there are some things to clear, here we go:
1. Asked many times: will the solution be compatible with other OSes than OS4 (especially MorphOS). The answer is: this is absolutely my intention. I won't bind it to OS4 in any way (intentionally, at least), and it is not related to my previous development in OS4. On the other hand, I probably won't be able to do versions for other OSes than OS4, sources will be available to anybody.
2. I have extremely limited time to do the actual development. I just moved from Hungary to New Zealand and I can assure you I have plenty other stuff to deal with in my life recently. Therefore please do not expect any results in short time. My best estimate for the project is about one year to accomplish the bounty goals. (Which might not satisfy everybody's expectations, I can tell you that.)
3. Will the JIT implementation based on Petunia: absolutely not. It will be implemented in a different approach, I won't use either the sources or the OS interface of Petunia for this implementation. (See first answer.) Using Petunia's engine would be difficult and would not help much probably.
4. Please don't expect that every old application of your choice will work sufficiently with JIT. This is not the case with the WinUAE JIT and there is a reason behind it. I will do what I can to improve compatibility, I have a few things, but let revisit that topic later.
5. Please also don't take evidently that the JIT compiling solves all the performance issues of your computer. It will be certainly faster than the interpretive emulation, but still it might not meet all of your expectations.
That is all for now, please feel free to ask if you are in doubt, but please also note the fact that I rather spend my limited time on actual development than answering emails in this topic. (Read: no silly questions.) Thanks. Please also note that I scarcely read the forums on the Amiga related portals. Therefore don't expect me to answer your random question in a random forum thread.
I have created a blog (beacuse it is sooo hip), if you want follow the development closely. It is still empty, but there will be some posting soon(ish): E-UAE JIT blog
I would like to grasp the opportunity to thank Stephen "Cobra" Fellner for his never-ending support, Robert Trevor Dickinson for never let me alone with the JIT topic and Troels Ersking for maintaining the Amiga Bounty. _________________ Álmos Rajnai

Well..Good Work! No matter if it tooks one year...I think that in meantime we can add a bounty for p96 emu so at the end we can get a really complete E-UAE(@Troels: its possible????) )
So, complete firslty your own life "problems" than do it well!

| Donation made.
Thanks to Rachy for taking up the challenge.
Although I'm not really into playing retro games (anymore) I do think that SUPER Amiga Workbench distros such as AmigaSys and AmiKit will greatly benefit from JIT enable E-UAE.
Lets keep the donations rolling in.

| This is good news. In 2011 we should have seamless classic integration by now.
I hope JIT can be disabled, as I believe it interferes with debugging tools for developers.
Now if only I can automate the creation of a HDF via script, install software to it and run E-UAE and boot off it ... _________________ Download 499.26 Mbps, 659.94 Mbps Upload :)

We are very excited for you to work on this. Thank you!
A year is a long time though .... if there was a lot of donations would it speed it up?
