posted by Crisot on 21-Aug-2005 18:45:17 (29677 reads)
Asked by Hyperion, this is a video showing a new feature natively supported by the intuition.library, and some other stuffs.

http://uniweb.free.fr/os4videos/os4intuition.avi

you need a player able to replay xvid codec (dvplayer, mplayer...)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(one for each year since C=)

When the first screen posed the question, that's what I said out loud... and then.... BOOM! It was there.. fully functioning in front of my eyes.. This truely is the final touch that make OS4 the defacto Amiga heritage.

This is frickin' AWESOME! And after all those years of "sorry, can't be done" too!

This definitely adds to the whole "this *is* AmigaOS" feel. Well done, guys. I'm really looking forward to the final release (playing with Pre3 ATM)

Incidentally, is the technique you're using gfx card independent (within reason), or does it only work on Radeon, or Voodoo, or...?

Man, this has really made my weekend

Very nice & I love the music.

Only one complaint, it wasn't long enough.

I second that!

Why limit dragging to one direction only?

One could implement horizontal dragging (meaning incl. horizontally overlapping screens), too, but it likely will look strange. Possibly even real uncool. Because then the screens are basically like windows and the normal windows like child windows. Ie. like the MDI stuff on windows where you have top level like windows inside (child of) a real top level window. Most seem to hate those MDI thingies.

NO WAY!!!!!!!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO sorry for driving you with all those "screen dragging" threads I started and kept ones made by others going and going and going etc.!!!!

B U T,

now I really feel like you just made this OS for ME, ONLY ME!!!!!!

Stay away!!! Stay away from my A1-XE G4, back off, I have a pointy stick and am not afraid to use it!

(micro)AmigaOne! AOS4.0! Bottom line: this IS Amiga*!!!!!!!!!

* Not screen dragging, BUT being ABLE to DO that!!!!!

P.S. How about that? They quit making (micro)AmigaOnes, and here's Crisot trying to sell them!!!!!!

I LOVE YOU CRISOT!!!!!! (Not like that. )

Maybe because in Windows top level windows are not organized like they are organized on Amiga (cycle through 'top level' windows, screens in Amiga context).

Very nice to see one of Amiga's historical features back.

Hope this won't be at cost of speed...

And hope new intuition inherits MagicMenu's non-blocking menus !

Wo - this sounds cool! Can't check out the video unfortunately, as I'm at work... presumably there are other new features in there (judging by the topic title!) - can anyone post a quick list of what's new in addition to screen dragging? Pretty please?

@OS4 devs - great job guys! Big thumbs-up!

I loose windows and pop-up buttons in windows all the time.

On AOS4 it is possible to loose (also) whole screens?
