Sounds like you just volunteered to me since you do have an OS4 box et al. _________________ ExecSG Team Lead

Do you have URLs to sites where I can download the Linux patch in OS4-friendly format? I don't have a Linux machine either. _________________ "Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others." (Groucho Marx)

| You can always use (and adapt if needed) morphos quake3's update script. It indeed came with an "InstallUpdate" script downloading update, stripping the useless header from the linux update and extracting needed files. This script needs gzip wget tar and tail.

| @ssolie: I didn't need to touch that script on OS4, because i simply copied the already patched files from my Pegasos. _________________ MorphOS, classic Amiga, demoscene, and stuff "When a bridge is not enough, build a Viaduct!" | Quake 3 needs 200 Mo to be launched and between 20 and 100 Mo for playing a level. So, 256 Mo owners, you can pray before playing a level Last edited by Daff on 07-Jul-2006 at 04:22 PM.

| It doesn't work here. Only one grey screen and hard reboot needed after. Is my Radeon 9200 faulty ? _________________ Read aMiGa=PoWeR ! -------- Go and subscribe !

Well, I get most of my PC updates from 3D Gamers, which covers just about everything out there. It also includes Linux versions for stuff that is out there.
The file that is there is a self-extracting Linux x86 file, but I think it's made in a way that it has a shell script wrapper that reads the rest of itself as the input stream for one of the regular Linux packers (like gzip or bzip2 for example). I'd have to download it here at work and look at it internally to figure out if it can be unpacked under OS4. Unless Entilzha can give us a URL to a different file, that .run file is the only official one I know of.
You can also get more info on other ID software Linux x86 ports here. That page also includes a link to a torrent tracker for downloading the files if the other sources are too bogged down. _________________ This posting, in it's entirety, is the opinion and/or statement of the author and does not reflect the views and/or position of this site.

My A1 shouldn't have any problems running it, as I have 512 MB in there. _________________ This posting, in it's entirety, is the opinion and/or statement of the author and does not reflect the views and/or position of this site.

It is a know bug of W3D. Start Warpview before and then Q3. It happens here as well with a 9200SE. _________________ ikir

I had the grey screen too. I read this thread and did what it said and now it plays.
What I did to make it go:
1) Make a directory named .q3a inside the directory where you have the game. (Post #37 by EntilZha)
2) Run Warpview before you run the q3 script. (Post #40 by EntilZha) (I didn't have this, I downloaded it from OS4Depot.)
Good luck! _________________ Amiga user since 1985.

| Same here Curty.
This is a very early version so I'm not going to get worried about it. I'll hang in for future updates.

| Is it perhaps possible to compile this with more conservative settings, to reduce RAM requirements?

| Same here. WarpView is quite buggy here. It shows well my picture but when I quit with the ESC key, it freezes ! So It doesn't help me for running Quake 3. _________________ Read aMiGa=PoWeR ! -------- Go and subscribe !

I'm pretty sure Bigfoot's version doesn't need 512MB RAM.. |
