What?! No one has any comments on the beautifully anti-aliased fonts??

Just one question, I've been burning to ask:

Will we still need to "Close all windows except drawers" when we change screen resolution? It's the single most annoying thing, I can think of about AmigaOS.

well well well im a ex amigaèr here but got winuae just to have the fun back ok i got an a1200 down in my basement with alot of extra stuff with it but the fact is there is NOTHING in that OS that would make me rush down and get my a1200 up and running again this OS is still "outdated" from what i can see
and honest i agree with "z5" on his posts there is NOTHING to make outsiders say OMG is the amiga really got so far and yes ppl have differents taste but the "GREY" looks IS outdated even "windows" have moved alittle away from the grey looks in XP (im not saying XP owns .... But the fact is GREY IS OUT and only head for the old amiga owners and not try to make newcommers interested will sure not be the furture ..... My oppion wonder if ill get slaugthered now for that

Well .. Night Date .. First off, Welcome to AmigaWorld.

As for getting Slaughtered for expressing yur opinion... This Is AmigaWorld .. We dont do that !!

But ... As others will verify .. You can CHANGE the grey to whatever YOU like ...

They had to make the default Something And this is a GOOd start. Easily recognisable as intuition, etc.

Hang around a bit, You might like what goes on in these parts as of late!!

@mattk

I think you have done a great job! It looks much more modern yet still very much the AmigaOS I use every day. I look forward to reading your essay as promised by your boss on ANN.

After reading through all the forums, I've noted there is only a small pocket of individuals that are outright complaining. I really thought there would be much more criticism givin all the hostility lately. It seems AmigaOS 4.0 is already starting to pull the Amiga community back together from just a few screen shots--very encouraging.

> Expect to see more in the coming weeks ahead.

Screen shots are nice but I have enough of them for now. I would like to see some reports from users on the fluidity of the running GUI as well. So far, all I've heard is the mouse was acting up.

yes i will stay around and afcouse i cant say anything about the OS in it selfs i can only judge from the SS but why "GREY" AS default and magic workbench/glow icons style buttons ?? dont they have a GFX artist to make some new cool buttons/icons .. dont use time on the wallpaper ppl change it anyway but ICONS are importens becouse there isnt really alot from choosing from ...
just my oppion when you make a new OS you should be prepered to change the GUI as well else its not an "real" update more like an addon ..

Nope, I do :) I generally detest all guis using bright colors behind black text. 5 minutes and my eyes feels like they are full of sand.

Paper might be white, but has anyone actually seen paper that shines bright white? ;)

The greyish gui is just fine, although I will put a slight blue/cyan hue to it when I get my hands on it.

I dont mind gray but that brushed metal that is used is a no no its to dull.

Maybe a diffrent type of metal would be better, or used in another way, buttons.

Any pics of this in operation, or how it works?

Overall, I like the new GUI - the gadgets look nice, the text is antialiased in a very nice and pleasing manner (and a font that anti-aliases well has been selected - what fonts will come with OS4, btw? [PS: Include the free Bitstream Vera family as well, they are nice fonts])

As above, I do not like the brushed metal texture, and the problem with the GUI isn't that it is grey, it is that it is dark grey. Light greys (or light near-greys) work very well. Bright colours do not, of course - they distract from the actual application and data being manipulated.

Perfect! Will it have also solid resizing or it`ll be only the standard way? (not very important, just curious)

Thanks alot for your great work Matthew and Massimo!

Still recognizable as being AmigaOS and yet alot more modern looking.

BTW Mason stated at AO that his efforts aren't yet shown in these shots.

Really, you can switch both solid movement and solid resizing on and off.

Resizing on any corner/edge works by pressing the Right Amiga key when clicking.

Will there be an option to do that without pressing rAmiga? (edge means also sides?)

What can I say? I just can`t wait to buy it for my A4000PPC and buy also one of the new Amigas Thanx!
