I also have to admit the font anti-aliasing seeks a bit flakey.

That's because these are JPEG shots, and slightly scaled.. If you look at the Lens docky in the last shot, you can see it a bit better, but the JPEG doesn't convey the real effect. On the original PNG shots, things look definitely better.

The screenshots appear to look good, but I would really like some higher quality pictures.. and in 1024x768 if thats possible too. Are we able to get those?

The subtle gradients here and there look really nice.
This is a good default look. Not earth shattering, but good.

Hot dang, I wish this was what greeted me when I boot up my AmigaOne...

I'll join the other blind, blond cheerleaders and say that this does look very nice, indeed . It is instantly recognizeable as Intuition, slick and professional, and it's fairly neutral, as a default look must be. Very good work!

One thing I would like to see is a full-size screenshot in PNG or some other format which doesn't degrade quality. You know, for studying the details...

@Rogue
Looks Great! Good job! Am I correct in assuming "will be released in September" is for Cyberstorm PPC? The full retail release? Will you be coming to Amiwest or debuting OS4 there? Thank you.

Personally, I hope all those people with BPPC cards will now take part in Hyperion's BPPC Survey.

Email timdg@hyperion-entertainment.com and express an interest for the BPPC version

BTW, I must point out that I want it YESTERDAY!!!

It's more about the vector images. All the gradients are generated, not bitmapped. You can still use the VisualPrefs themes, though.

Thats cool but are you providing a vector image creator for making new vector based icons or providing a way to write vector definitions in a text file eg:

rectangle ,,,,,
line ,,,,,

where colour is in hex ie FFFFFF = white and transparency is in hex ie FF = totally transparent (dunno why you'd make it totally transparent but hey! :))

A text/xml (why not!) vector image idea would be nice, you could wrap an editor around it for the less hardcore get-your-hands-dirty kind!

Support for vector *and* bitmaps is definately the way to go.

Vector of course being nicer as it scales perfectly!

Sorry I've just gone into idea mode....I've started thinking out loud...

Oh, and did I mention that the Mandelbrot PPC demo zooms in real-time?

I wouldn't have it any other way Excellent stuff, making those PPC doing what they do best :)

CnlPepper - Looking forward to buying an AmigaOne when the spare cash-o-meter turns green!

Please don't forget that these screenshots only reflect 80% of the final default appearance and that as always the emphasis is on the ability to modify nearly everything.

The hard work was done by the designer and Massimo who did a sterling job on implementing the design.

Don't know about Amiwest yet, I'd like to go time and resources permitting.

Incidentally, we still have not come out with an official release date for OS 4, contrary to certain rumours.

Still too early to tell.

Things are looking good however and development is proceeding at a frantic pace, 24/24 and 7/7 (we have developers from Europe, the US and Australia in the OS 4 team).

If you don't like the grey, use another color. The gradients come in different variants, you can either define two colors, or two "shades". For example, the active and inactive windows use the same gradient, only with a different color. The pen used is automatically shaded, so if you change the blue to green, you'll get a green gradient... No need to define that yourself, just pick another color (sorry, hard to explain...)

The website should be alot faster now.

AmigaWorld is taking quite an enormous traffic hit and so I couldn't even get to my email.

I have created temporary links to mirrors at my AmigaRing homepage.

oh goody! :)

cheers.

Btw I've got a global skinning system using containers, relative postsioning etc.. I could write it up - its totally flexable....you can do almost anything you want with it, glows around windows etc....

If I've got time I'll make a thread with a general overview sometime..... if you're interested.

CnlPepper - Has designed skinning systems before....
