| KMOS. Remember KMOS = AmigaOS, Amiga Inc = AmigaDE. _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation

| The boot up AmigaOS thing seems rather cool. Might get the new CD just for that.
Bit like Amithlon, just perhaps a bit slower?

| My recommendation would be get the product from a company that's actively contributing money to the Amiga and continues to make new releases. Sure, you can get UAE for free but for $40 w/ roms and OS it's a good deal. |

| The thing I like about it - now that its self booting - with luck it will feel like its running native. I have an old Duron 700 in the house. Amiga Forever 6 should fly on it! |

| The knoppix AmigaOS-Live thing is so darn cool! I think it would fit on a creditcard-cd. That would be soooo cool.

| Well I am getting thing now, credit card lined up, but would you believe the site is down.
I had not been interested in emulations and old OSes until now, booting off the CD is a different thing altogether -- this is really useful and makes best use of some old intels I have lying around.
This and OS4 coming out is great. _________________ Greg Schofield, Perth Australia

| Makes you wish there were some x86 OS4 modules one could put in there ;)
And like a DVD and DivX 3,4,5 player.
Oups, did I say that out loud??

| If you want DivX support, get MooVid. It's good enough on fast hardware without being x86 native. _________________

| Amiga Forever can be percieved in two completely different ways depending on which way you look at it. In one way it's a very bad thing for the Amiga - it hinders Amiga hardware sales for struggling Amiga dealers and tempts PC users to use it as a piracy platform for all the older games.
In another way it is a fantastic thing for the Amiga - it allows us to run AmigaOS on a standard PC very VERY quickly - easily faster than the fastest 68060 based classic Amiga. For some people, WinUAE will have been the last thing that has kept them in the Amiga community.
For me, it is a very useful tool. I run a very nice real Amiga at home which is extremely quick in itself. AmigaOS runs faster on my PC under WinUAE than it does on my real Amiga though, that's for sure. A few things don't work properly though so I tend to use a real Amiga for home use. What Amiga Forever IS good for, is running AmigaOS3.9 on a PC Laptop! That's what my current use for it is. I run a real Amiga at home, and if I want to do work away from home then I run AmigaOS on my laptop via Amiga Forever. Also, it's fantastic to be able to chat in AmIRC from the comfort of bed!!
The new version, 6.0, has seen many feature improvements and I'll look forward to recieving it. I particularly like the CDROM boot option - much better than running Windows and then switching between, I never liked that approach.
Good luck Cloanto and thankyou once again for supporting the Amiga platform!
Best Regards,
Brian |

| i'm looking at ways to make my amiga floppy disks into ADF files and i found this quote in the amiga explorer page on cloantos site
"Write and read ADF (floppy disk image) files with a simple drag-and-drop (e.g. download an ADF file from the internet to the PC, then drop it over the Amiga floppy disk icon with Amiga Explorer to write the Amiga disk)"
does that mean with Amiga forever and amiga explorer you can read amiga floppies????

Yes, if you have your PC connected to a real Amiga using null-modem cable or other similar solution it's possible. |

| I have just redirected an other pc-user (ex-amiga-user) to the site.
I think that Amiga Forever needs some havy promoting to atract the pc-users to the Amiga again. I think it will draw them to OS4 in the long run when they are in contact with the Amiga-community. _________________ A1G3-SE + OS4.1 u1 iso (x2)

Well it seems parallell cables aren't directly supported. More information on the supported options here. |

For some reason I can't get it to upgrade properly. I've "upgraded" at least 5 times already and the Launcher window still just says 5.3, Software Manager does this as well.
It just says something like: SM is about to copy one or more files from dl.filekicker.com to the ...\Amiga Forever\ drawer on your harddisk, I press OK, it copies a few files (?) and nothing happens... I know the AF window is closed and UAE isn't running so that can't be the problem. |
