News   News : AmigaOS DevContest Kicks off!
posted by elwood on 14-Feb-2005 13:16:03 (5891 reads)
Brave AmigaOS coders stand up!

So you think AmigaOS is great? Then bring some great products to it!
This is your chance to contribute to AmigaOS and put your name into the hall of fame. You'll get popularity, recognition from the community and last but by no means least, you'll get the hardware to run your beloved new AmigaOS on.

This contest was made to help the platform by bringing cool products to it. Its here to help you
to work for something and create the best program of all. This is why there are strict rules and there is a validation process in order to enter.
Only the best apps will be accepted because the Amiga community deserves the best software.

You are encouraged to form a group if you feel the need to. So you can "hire" coders and betatesters to shape up a great project.
Also consider that when your program is done, you may make it commercial or why not licence it to some Amiga company. Who knows?

What are you waiting for? Go code!

Click here to read more and to enter.

Wow! I would like to see a new BBS/Web Server software made. That would win! Hands down!

So we actually have developers saying "I would rather code in MUI for nothing than coding in Reaction and have a chance at this grand prize"?

Somehow I doubt it

Personally I never bought into the MUI hype. My Amiga was too slow back then, and now I've just seen to many hyped-up things that really, really suck to buy into ANYTHING that is hyped up

Everybody: If Elwood creates the competition and pays for the prize, Elwood is allowed to write the rules. Elwood does this because he wants to see more software for OS4, therefore the rules are what I would expect them to be.

Too bad I don't have a project. Of course, there's always OpenOffice.org

This weeks pet peeve:
Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

Very cool idea..

Once i finish this year at university (end of May) i will gladly start rising to the challange.

Will help alot when the Cross compiler for windows comes out. Sorryi have to use wndows all the time for my university work, and never got to use linux yet as a full alternative to windows box.

But cant wait to start on OS4 development for my Amigaone and everyone

I have a question. What about if a program just uses intuition ?

If I can use VBCC and the AOS4 SDK is realeased I'm in. VBCC rules!! It even runs well on my unexpanded A1200! And the executables are fast and small.

@Jose

You can of course. Also you can use Reaction classes that you have in 3.5 or 3.9.
