When I get my new house and BB connection, I'll be joining the effort (not that it'll make much difference)

Second thing I installed on my Micro A1 was the Dnet Client

Was crunching with the A1200T PPC before. But the A1200T is off atm. Must get it working again so that it can make it's contribution too.

Has anyone had any problems with their decoded keys being counted?
I have stopped running my client for the time being because much of the work
that was uploaded did not get counted. This has happened on two occassions.
First time was late November/early December and the second was mid January.
They way I could tell was that several days worth of work would not show up, not
just one or two. I suppose I will load it back up and see what happens.

Oh, knew I forgot something!

I have just joined with 11,162 blocks. When they re-run the stats at midnight, hopefully we'll jump into 12th.

This is me here

@Rudei

What do you need BB for?
You don't even need an Internet-connection to the computer that is counting

Good to see we're moving up

Ah good, healthy competition!

I've got another AmigaOne starting to crack here hopefully in the next few days, so I should get another whack of keys..

Anyone else going to compete?

Hmm, once again we have people going against the team effort and working/concentrating on the projects that the TEAM is not supposed to be concentrating on.

Please, why are we NOT doing OGR here? We have a REALLY GOOD chance of getting at least 2nd or 3rd place overall in the OGR project. I get a feeling we would have a VERY solid 2nd place, maybe first, if EVERYONE would just get on the same page here.

@DWolfman

From the Distributed Amiga webpage:

Quote:
The Amiga RC5 Team effort/Distributed Amiga focuses on exposure for the Amiga
and the enthusiasm and loyalty which the Amiga community is known for.

It's not about winning, but the fun of participation,
and showing that the underdog can have a set of sharp teeth :)

Where did you get Quote:

from?

Come on, just get on the same page here

My A1 (G4-933) is on almost 24/7 cracking keys.

But we still need more people joining to beat that other Amiga like OS.

If you keep slacking, they keep on rocking

The OGR-25? my problem whit it is that it's not taken seriously by most platforms, so getting on top of that list is a joke, compared whit RC5-75, then again AmigaOS has shown a steady decrees in keys/days compared to morphos,

on ogr that most platform do no long crush, and we are crushing 10 x more key/days then morphos.
we need more to disable ogr-25, and start only crushing rc-75,

There was only the RC5 effort at first. If you look at the address, it says distributed.amiga.org, not rc5.amiga.org.

From Thomas Tavoly, manager of the Distributed Amiga Team:

Quote:
OGR is preferred for several reasons. First, RC5-72 is a parking effort, to be done when no other efforts are underway. Secondly it will run a long time (at 0.2% now after over 2 years) as opposed to OGR-25 which will be finished much sooner. We have a real chance of getting second place there, whereas our RC5 stats aren't that great exposure wise, and there is also a chance by the time RC5-72 finishes there will be something else, or even no Amiga or effort tied to it. Once OGR-25 finishes we can still concentrate on RC5, if there are no other (worthwile) projects and clients for Amiga.

Also, some people prefer RC5 because they can compete in things like MorphOS vs. AmigaOS. That's contrary to the team spirit, namely promoting all things 'Amiga', which does not make a difference between AmigaOS and MorphOS, or even emulation. So competition on that front is to an extent divisive. Of course it's still up to the particular user, PPC works faster on RC5 than x86 does relative to OGR, but IMHO this is a minor consideration.

The effort name does not signify the project, it did before the other projects (DES/CSC/OGR) but that's exactly why it was changed to Distributed Amiga, to cover other efforts as well. The RC5 part is mentioned forhistorical reasons. The same goes for list names/headers and E-mail addresses containing rc5. If this is a major problem I could remove the old name part from the stats pages at least.

Thomas Tavoly

Thanks Vir. RedMelons is now switching to OGR25.

My apologies DWolfman.
