Software News   Software News : Genesis / Megadrive Plus is here, finally
   posted by Olle on 30-Mar-2005 9:44:35 (7198 reads)
Here is the long awaited Sega Genesis / Megadrive emulator.

As i am in a hurry i cannot write a long text, but please notice
that this is NOT a straight port. Alot of work was needed, and i
also made a MorphOS port, which unfortunately didn´t work straight away, so
i will send the sources back to Charles MacDonald, and any MOS-coder
can try to make a new compile from that code.

Thanks to Toaks for kicking the right butts in the right time, and
to Restore2003 for never letting us down with his banners.

Link is here, snapshots are sent, but not active yet.

Genesis Plus @ OS4Depot

Enjoy, now i'm off for some IceCream in the sun.

@Toaks

Ohhh so it have or not? If not we need that all new emulators can choose screen mode as always!!!! It is the amiga doing the things!!!!

That we need is simply that we can doing the pixel perfect screens to play emulators. To play in windows, or standar screen modes is no fun, it is like PC Windows.

@ID4
No screenmode select yet, however when i update the emu-code, all my ports will have
it later on (at the same stage Joystick / Joypad support is added).

@Hooligan
Ah, forgot kellys port, i never even checked, i just wanted to see if the code compiled, and it did not (edit: it compiled, but did not work properly). However there are some differences.

@Toaks
I can see on your avatar that you prepared for this.

@All
I just wanted to get this off my chest as soon as possible, as i have
alot of other projects that eats my time.

For some reason it crashes on my µA1-C when trying to start a ROM with DSI error on address 0x708d6844 and when and press continue it crashes with ISI error on address 0x000000 :(
Also the icon is PNG one, so it doesn't show on my Workbench install.

@drHirudo

Strange, i have ran it here on my µA1-C for about 2 weeks without any problems.

Do you have xadmaster installed?, i also forgot to add the xadmaster interface lib in this version, i will update os4depot later, however it should work without it.

I know about the icon, but i couldn´t find a suitable "normal" icon, so i leave that to you to
find your own personal one.

XadMaster is installed on AOS4 by default (it's used by unarc), not PPC native yet, but I think it should work flawlesly, that's why I didn't try to install the shareware version from Aminet. Mine CPU is 750GX, could this be the problem?
I also tryied unpacked roms with the same result.

@drHirudo
Dunno really what could be wrong, same cpu here.

@mwoof

Don´t tell me it doesn´t work with escape?
(you will make Toaks happy)

If it doesn´t work with escape, it could be my system that fools me, because
here esc always quits the emulation.

No, it doesn't, oddly enough! But TGEmu has the same problem apparently, could the two be related? For the record, I use an SE with OS update 2.

@drHirudo

Yes, I get exactly the same with my u-A1-C. When ever I try to start an un-archived ROM I get the same error.

Unpacking problems - did you try to run Snoopdos and check what goes on?
