Software News   Software News : WarpView v0.4 Released
   posted by COBRA on 23-Oct-2005 9:33:32 (8638 reads)
The first public release of WarpView has just been uploaded to OS4Depot

WarpView is an image wiewer which uses Warp3D to display the images. The advantage of using Warp3D is fast high quality scaling.

WarpView requires AmigaOS4 and a Radeon graphics card. The current version of WarpView has no software clipping, which means it won't work on graphics cards like Voodoo3 (software clipping will be added in a later version).

WarpView is FREEWARE and is my gift to the Amiga community.

This is an excellent viewer, showing images in 3D, but i have to point out that
since most users like me have Radeon 9200, it is still not possible to display
images with this viewer until Warp3D-drivers for the later Radeon cards are
ready

Still, i keep it in my system for the future

Nice little program. Something which I needed on my Amiga for ages. It renders fast (faster than MultiView), it have zoom in/out function, rotating, scroll etc. I will install it as my default imageviewer. Great work.

Thanks, i love this program!
Especialy the fact that you can rotate and zoom the picture easily and in real time: it's extra cool!

@Helgis

Go on, read it again & edit your post.

@CORBA

Sweet little viewer It's good to see that even though us Radeon users win this time even though drivers in Update 3 aren't quite complete. Voodoo people can be the ones waiting this time

Victory at last!

I'm very impressed with this, particularly with smaller images - really shows off the scaling and rotating abilities. Bung in a 2560x1920x24 JPEG though, and, not surprisingly, things begin to crawl!

@Fuzion

What was that supposed to mean? It uses Warp3D-drivers, right...

That doesn't surprise if it can't be used with my Radeon 9200, cause
there is no Warp3D-drivers for it yet...

@helgis

I think there is a little confusion going on here. The viewer although it uses warp 3d does not display pictures in 3d it just uses it to scale very fast aswell as some other tricks, I think this is what Fuzion was refering to though I could be wrong aswell as I have not tried it myself yet (on the wrong computer at the moment).

Edit

Changed computers and tried it you can rotate them whilst holding the middle mouse button so I suppose this is a sort of 3d trick.
Radion drivers are a different matter and you are right on that point.

@Arnie

I've tried WarpView with my Radeon 9000 and it doesn't work because there isn't a warp3d driver.

OH! The wierdest thing!!!

If I load an image and zoom it in a little bit and then 3D rotate it so it becomes almost a flat line I get audio distorsion!!!

How the h*#? can I get audio distorsion by rotating an image in 3D or by zooming into it too much??!?!?

The distorsion doesn't happen *while* rotating, it just comes when I have rotated the image such that I can almost only see its edge. It also happens if I zoom in very deep.

I have upd3, Radeon7000 (1280x960x32), SB Audigy+AmigaAMP.

@Deniil715

There were recently some updates to AHI and the audio drivers, which solved such problems AFAIR. Make sure you're up to date with those.

@All

It's easy to be misunderstanding. Fuzion could have meant something else,
but i realized that i can't use it as long as there is no Warp3D-driver for
the Radeon 9200...

So, if you haven't used it, how can you claim it's excellent?
What a waste of space.

And yes, it works on Update3.

Contrary to what is said on news item, it *WORKS* on Voodoo 3 (scaling, rotating, etc) and it is very fast .

Perhaps, someone should update news item?
