Internet News   Internet News : End result of the DevContest 2005
   posted by elwood on 5-Dec-2005 9:28:12 (6633 reads)
Hello everyone,

Here is the result of this first AmigaOS DevContest.
This is not what you (and I) wanted it to be but this contest will be something useful after all.

As there are a lot of uploads on OS4depot, I thought more people would be interested to enter the contest. I was wrong but 8 projects were proposed. This is not bad.

I had the idea of this contest to bring more projects to the AmigaOS 4 platform. Unfortunately offering some prizes are not enough to make these projects appear now. There are more factors to take into account. Amiga developers are already busy with their own life/job.

So in the end only one project was released in time (as per the contest rules).
This is RockBeat made by James 'Jahc' Carroll.

Read all the details on the DevContest page.

The money that was raised with this contest will be given to who you think deserve it in the community. So give below the name/URL of an Amiga website where there is a PayPal button I can press and fill with money.

Many thanks to all that made this possible!

Only Amiga Makes it Possible!

@ssolie

Ok for dvplayer, UAE ...etc. I'll do that when the package to Jahc is shipped which is quite expensive (Europe -> NewZealand)

It's a shame more projects werent finished in time, but the fact that only one was finished suggests that there wasnt enough time in the contest.... Id have liked to have seen the deadline extended rather than the money raised going elsewhere.... granted this would have been a bit unfair to James, but this could have ben worked around somehow or other.... oh well such is life I guess. Not to take away from the efforts of all involved, but a reminder email or 2 over the course of the contest would have ben nice as well,.... real life got in the way for me, but had I realised how close the end date was I mightve made the effort and tried to get something completed, now as it stands Ive lost interest in what was to be my entry,... not much inspiration to continue with it now that having OS4 is off the radar for me again.

.....this sounds kinda negative now that Ive read it back.... not really meant to be, I was more or less thinking aloud is all,... just my personal outlook on the dev contest and isnt meant to discredit anyone else.
