Software News   Software News : FryingPan v0.41
posted by VooDoo on 2-Jul-2006 11:51:40 (2610 reads)
A new release for FryingPan is now available for downloading.

Fryingpan is a CD/DVD burning program written for use under Classic Amiga's WB3.x, but should also work nicely on both MorphOS and OS4.

A list of changes for v0.41 are:

  • Content page progress bar displays proper values now

  • Progress bars start from valid positions when appending already written disc

  • Overall progress bar displays valid information when burning multiple tracks in TAO

  • Install script utilizes xad/lha/lzx whichever is found first

  • in_MP3.module has been updated and features checking (accepts only MPEG1 LAYER3 44kHz Stereo)

  • multiselection of data/audio tracks is now allowed. You can change filetype for multiple tracks at once, remove multiple tracks in a single click etc

  • removed scroll bar from settings & hardware settings panels

  • write method is now recorded

  • empty iso images are ignored from now on

  • added text object displaying amount of data to be written to disc

  • write speeds are properly remembered now

For more info look on the authors website.

This could be a problem, I have loads of MPEG1 LAYER2 files

Nice update. Now i see how many space the files uses in MB and how much left. This i wanted for ages and its here now.

What else. I tryed to load the new kernel-2.6.8-a1.img from
http://amigaone-linux.sourceforge.net/ into fryingpan and it says its
Raw audio format. I couldnt change it to data mode.
Makecd says its Data (mode 1) with blocksize 2048 but complains its wrong length 1728557bytes. I use only demoversion of makecd to test with.

I disabled the MAD version of mpega.library as this is usually what makes
programs thinks non mp3 files are mp3. Can't anyone fix the mad version once for all ? ;)

I had alot of problems to burn as FP stopped sometimes at 7.1%, 60% etc. The
whole system locked. So i pressed on my intelligence button on my PSU to
autoblow in full speed instead of its autocheck temperature_and_blow_when_needed.
Then i could burn 100% again. Tested writing some 700mb files (about 4gb total)
on DVD+RW. My PSU is ElanVital Greenerger 400W, 0 dBA and my computer A1
not overclocked. 512mb ram.

@Kicko

Have you tried renaming the extension of the file to .iso? F.e. I always have to rename .img files to .iso in order for Nero (PC) to recognise them...

Man im using amiga so its more inteligent as it do check the actual files :)
Yes i tested it and it still thought it was an raw audio. But im thinking maybe this .img file isn't and iso file for burning but just the kernel itself in onefile format. Im not good in this.

So, you have to resample / convert them all to let FP recognize them. As far as I know FP will not support Layer2 at all.

Thanks "error", best burning software on OS4.x. Now we need a native OS4 version.

Cheers,
Tim
