Software News   Software News : PointRider 0.20 beta2
posted by VooDoo on 25-Sep-2006 13:49:16 (3251 reads)
PointRider is the only PowerPoint viewer for Amiga, obtained by looking into this proprietary format during so many hours. I found some help with projects like Laola or Antiword to understand OLE and a small documentation on the PowerPoint format.

It was a long time ago when I started to break my head against OLE hopefully helped by projects like Laola or Antiword. Now the project is much more mature and I hope you will be able to see your PPS files.
Many problems have been removed now. 650 files were tested before this release and all the future improvements are planned in the roadmap and recorded in a bugtracker.

Don't forget this archive include a first version of a new tool to convert PPS into Hollywood projects.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Great job...

I saw from your site that there is close co-operation with Hollywood...

Good!

Is it yours the program converting Powerpoint presentations into Malibu plugin for Hollywood?

And BTW is it your program capable to export any single PPT slide of a presentation as PDF or vector or bitmap image?

Hope you the best for your job!

@Raffaele

Yes, Corto did MeltingPoint too.
For the export functions, don't ask too much but I'm sure he will enhance his program in the future.

Raffaele :

With the PowerPoint engine, I've just created a tool to converter PPS files into Hollywood projects. That means that a directory is created with a script (.hws) and all images inside. So, I can be used just to extract pictures from PPS files.

I don't see the interest about the PDF format ...

Malibu is the plugin for Scala files, isn't it ? I don't know if it is autonomous or embedded in Hollywood. About the PowerPoint format, I certainly have closest cooperation with Andreas if he needs help for a better integated support of PPS in Hollywood.

If you want to learn more about PointRider development, you should have a look at my PointRider blog from times to times.

Thanks also by me, long awaited feature for me using some .ppt files at work too. I suppose the Reaction GUI for OS4 (PointRiderUI) is done by somebody else? There seems to be problem with at least .ppt files, the ASL requester won't show them but they can be used if one types manually the name of the file. Is there some kind of 'hidden' wildcard excluding these files?
