Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : Amigaworld urgently needs donations/sponsorship/banner ads
   posted by _Steve_ on 28-Mar-2007 10:40:21 (8009 reads)
Unfortunately the site no longer has a main sponsor as you can see from the left banner at the top of the site. This paid for the bulk of the dedicated server costs which are due on the 21st July. We were hoping that someone would sponsor the site when the previous sponsors banner expired, but so far this hasn't happened.

If you would like to sponsor the site for 6 or 12 months or advertise click this link http://amigaworld.net/advertising/

If you would like to donate please use the PayPal donate button at the top right of this site.

To give an idea of the target we hope to achieve, we currently have approximately £100 towards the costs. We need to raise another £600 or face losing the dedicated server we have and looking for a new home, or having to degrade service speeds by going over to a shared server.

We are also gauging an interest in another mousemat production which would be used to help fund the server costs.

Thank you.

If things are going well I will expand our support.
Nevertheless I hope AW.net will get a permanent sponsor! This site shouldn't die - it's unique for Amiga.

greetz,

I wish I had something to advertise. Maybe in a year or two Mattathias Basic will be ready...

I don't have enough extra money to donate outright presently, since I just paid my income taxes.

Donated

Another mousemat run would be cool too especially with a different design this time (not saying against the last one, only I got one of those.)

I have made a donation as well, we cannot afford to lose such an excellent site.

Why not display what you need per month and how much donated so we can keep track
on whats needed.

Donated. But I have a question. When I select the donate button, it asks for an amount to be donated in GBP which I would guess is Great Britian Pounds. Being from the USA and not up on the latest conversion rates, I wnated to ensure that my donation was in the right ball park. I found a web site that would do currency conversions, but GBP was not listed as one of the currencies (at least I couldn't find it). Why isn't the amount requested in Euros? Isn't that what Great Britian is using these days or am I missing something?

I hope I'm not suprised when I get my credit card bill.

Thanks.
Ned

@everyone
We're half way at £300 raised so far, thank you.

@Ned
You can use google to convert USD into GBP, for example in google type... convert 10 USD to GBP

I normally use http://www.xe.com/ for converting currencies.

Kind regards,

Francis.

Good site, accurate conversion.
Is there another similar to convert kilometers/meters/centimeters/height/weight/etc into US units? The ones i tried were too inaccurate or not close enough to the results i wanted.

P.S.: sorry to post this here...

I Always use the very rough conversion of 2 of your USD = 1 GBP

Google will do that too, and it is very accurate, for example

Enter
convert 10 miles to km

Answer
10 miles = 16.09344 kilometers

Google will just about convert anything, oh and it can calculate too

The following simple equation will help translate MPH and KPH.

To get speed in MPH: speed in KPH x (5 / 8)

To get speed in KPH: speed in MPH x (8 / 5)

So 40 MPH in KPH:

40 MPH = 40 * 8 ==> 320 / 5 ==> 64 KMH

Not so hard
